We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Lucia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in Foster, Rhode Island. The smallest town in the smallest state here in North America. Growing up, I was a quiet kid. I had a small group of friends and mostly kept to myself. I definitely was not a risk taker when it came to doing things for myself. It was not until I started traveling that I realized “I need to get out of Rhode Island”. I slowly started realizing that some people live comfortable, “normal” lives. That’s just not who I was nor am. Being from a small place you get very comfortable, every knows everyone no matter where you go. I knew that I wanted to make a name for myself and maybe even for my hometown. I feel like because of where I grew up it pushed me a lot to branch out and take risks because I had too. There was no way I wanted to stay there forever. I was scouted through instagram in 2018 by a modeling agency in New York, and that is how my journey of becoming a model started. Since then I have traveled to so many new places and met so many amazing people. Modeling absolutely pushes you to do things outside of your comfort zone. Including the way your dressing or modeling the clothes. Or just being brave enough to walk in a room full of people who are going to judge you on how you look. I truly believe that I am a totally different person now, than I was before I started my modeling career. I am so much more confident in myself. I can walk into any room and not care what people think of me. When I was in high school I would worry so much about people judging me to the point where I would just stay quiet. Now i can’t stop talking.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I was scouted back in 2018 through instagram, I feel as though it was because of some luck or fate. Most people have to go through a lot of agency’s, back and forth emails etc.. to even get noticed by big management company’s for modeling. I am very grateful for the power of social media to be able to connect so many people from everywhere. I don’t think I would be where I am today without it. I started modeling with absolutely no knowledge of it. I learned a lot from other models and my mother agent at that time. Modeling was definitely a dream of mine when I was younger but never imagined I would be where I am today. It’s so important to conquer your fears and push yourself for your dreams.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was coming to the city, first stop is definitely the beach. Our go to is sunny Isles beach. It’s a short drive from where I live. Not that many people go there, so less tourists and more room for relaxing. A great breakfast spot would be “ Alaskan Coffee roasting” or “ Bagel cove”. For a night out, we would spend our evening in Wynwood for some dancing at one of the many fun clubs there. A go to dinner spot is Rusty Pelican. Such a beautiful place to go at sunset because it is right on the water and they have greats drinks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout-out to my family, friends, and my boyfriend. They are the greatest support system anyone could have. If I am ever down about something, they are always there to remind me how far I have come and should be proud of myself.
