We had the good fortune of connecting with Nolan King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nolan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’ve always viewed risks as opportunities for growth. Sometimes we get into this “comfort zone” where life starts to become bland. For me, taking risks and becoming uncomfortable are some of the “spices of life”. If I have the opportunity to try something new, whether risky or not, I’m going to view it as an opportunity for personal growth.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve been working as a trainer for over 10 years now. I transitioned full-time to working with clients remotely around the U.S. and internationally around 6 years ago. I decided to do this because as human beings, we have diverse goals and needs when it comes to our health and fitness. I’m now able to work with a diverse demographic of clientele from all parts of the world, all facing different types of challenges.

At 32 years old, I’ve been an athlete and gym rat for more than half of my life. I’m able to apply the lessons I’ve learned from my own personal fitness journey to coaching clients, whether that’s been via injuries and surgeries I’ve experienced, wins and losses in sport/competition, my relationship with food and physical exercise, and simply staying consistent with my fitness routine for over two decades.

My biggest focus right now is helping individuals establish WHY they want to pursue a long-term fitness journey. With so much influence in the world from social media, it’s easy to start creating goals that don’t align with who you truly are as a person. Once someone gains insight on why they want to become healthy and fit because of who they are as a unique individual, a beautiful transformation occurs (and a sustainable one, at that).

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love this. Well, first and foremost, most of my friends enjoy training, so I’d take them to train Jiu Jitsu, hit the gym for a lift, and definitely get an outdoor workout in at South Beach and maybe some of the outdoor parks, as well. As far as food goes, Rusty Pelican in Key Biscayne will forever be my go-to restaurant in Miami. Whether it’s lunch after a paddle board session or a night out, that restaurant always has a place in my heart. Other than the specifics there, the rest of the week would be spontaneous because that’s what Miami is all about. The adventure. Wynwood, Coconut Grove, Brickell, Little Havana, Coral Gables, North Miami Beach. Every pocket of Miami has something unique and exciting to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my mother, Elizabeth King. She has always taken on life without fear, embraced new hobbies and challenges, and has always been my number one supporter. Love you mom.
