Meet Nora Benko: Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nora Benko and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nora, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Staying consistent is one of the most important things, especially when you don’t feel like doing anything. This, I find, is something most people (including myself) struggle with. But if you want to get somewhere, wether you are an artist or working in any creative industry, you have to do something even if it feels useless or unsuccessful in the moment because eventually it all adds up and that’s how progress is made. Besides staying consistent, probably one of the most important things you can implement not only in your artistic life but also life in general, is the right mindset. Negativity never creates a positive outcome which always becomes apperant when someone has to be creative
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Art has always been a part of my life in one way or another. As a child, like most kids, I had a love for creating things just for the fun of the process. Of course there were a couple of years when I fell out of the habbit of drawing or simply lost interest and motivation but I’ve always found a way to chanel my creative energy. For a while I took art classes in my free time, which gave me the necessary and very valuable fundamentals, but most of the progress was made on my own by experimenting and practising. One of my biggest goals when it comes to art is creating something that many people can love for it’s aesthetics, but something that touches others on a deeper level, something which they can appreciate for the meaning that they associate it with.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For me, spening time with friends has never really been about the place and I’m sure many people can relate to this. Spending quality time can be anywhere and anytime. Of course it’s good to have nice quality food and a cozy place but ultimately it’s not what counts.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout my life I’ve had a few art teacher outside of school and even though I didn’t stay a student of any of them to this day, I still owe thanks to them for motivating me and giving me the very important fundamental knowledge I needed to get where I am today.
