We had the good fortune of connecting with Novia Reid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Novia, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Ahh, this is a really good question! I’d have to say integrity matters the most to me. It’s not just about doing what’s right when no one is watching. It’s doing what’s good and right for my well-being. It’s being authentic in spaces, conversations, and relationships and remaining aligned with my spiritual beliefs and calling, even amid external pressure. But it’s also keeping my word to myself, like exercising when I said I would and eating healthier as I said I would. To some, working out or eating healthy as promised may seem small, but it matters. Keeping my vows to myself helps to cultivate self-trust, consistency, and peace within myself. It helps to build my confidence. Also, I think there are times that if we search and find that we lack integrity in our work and relationships, we may find that we lack integrity with ourselves, so integrity matters a lot to me.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I would love to! My business, Novia Reid, LLC, offers coaching, speaking, writing, and consulting services to women, couples, and organizations. I’m a licensed psychotherapist with a Ph.D. in marriage and family therapy (couple therapy specialization), a certified clinical trauma professional, and the author of
three impactful books. I’m passionate about inspiring and empowering others to heal, cultivate strong and healthy relationships, and be their authentic and best selves. I’ve had the privilege of counseling many, including women who had lost their sense of identity. Witnessing their personalities, passions, and confidence renewed and witnessing them as they healed and evolved was incredibly gratifying and beautiful! It was during a counseling session with a young woman who had lost her sense of self that God planted it in my heart to help women regain their identities. This idea evolved into Regain Your Core™, a coaching program to help women who have lost themselves from traumas, setbacks, and
heartbreaks rediscover and reclaim their true selves. Within the program, women have access to live coaching sessions with me, a personalized course, and a supportive community. Furthermore, I created three unique pathways to Regain Your Core™ so that women can choose what best aligns with their individual purposes, needs, and financial situations. I believe what sets me apart is my ability to pour my expertise as a psychotherapist and clinical social worker into the coaching program. But, also, it’s my focus on finding solutions to help create healing and growth rather than dwelling on pain and problems.
In essence, my purpose is to inspire, empower, and nurture healing, growth, and transformation in all my endeavors.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you'd want to take them around to?
I have been fortunate enough to call Miami my home for half of my life, and during my time here, I have discovered some truly unique, fun, and amazing gems in the city and surrounding areas. If my best friend were to visit me, I would take them to Pinecrest Gardens, a serene and beautiful place that hosts
various events, including a candlelight orchestra concert. For breakfast, we would go to Another Broken Egg in Pembroke Pines, and of course, we would spend some time at the beach. We’d probably spend some time at Wynwood and go to a festival, such as a vegan or food festival. We’d go line dancing and
try karaoke. To wrap up the week, we’d visit the new smoothie spot in Miami Gardens and a park.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a special shoutout to my 10-year-old niece, Somayah. She is such an amazing little girl who exudes brilliance, compassion, kindness, and confidence. She has a natural talent for writing, and at the age of eight, she wrote her first book, “The Beach Adventure” (hint to you readers, lol). I love her. I’m proud of her, and I’m grateful for all she has taught me. I also want to acknowledge my friend, entrepreneur, and influencer Jamal Parms (@primoparmesano), who helped me immensely in my journey to creating Regain Your Core™. The journey was not easy, but he encouraged me to slow down
and take my time to fulfill my purpose. I want to give a huge shoutout to my amazing circle of parents, sisters, friends, and mentors who have been instrumental in my life. I am grateful to every one of you: Agnes, Antoinette, Arlene, Christine, Coretta, Dario, Darlise, Dwayne, Georgia, Guerline, Michael, Mr.
Pouncy, Norma, Norma, and Lindsay (parents), Saskeia, Sharette, Tracey, Trisha, Urmene, Valerie, Woody, and Yanique. You are the most amazing tribe anyone could ask for, and I am blessed to have you in my life. Love you all!
