We had the good fortune of connecting with O’CEAN HILL and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi O’CEAN, why did you pursue a creative career?
For me its the need to create, it’s the process of having an idea in your head and working hard to give it life & making it a reality.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a singer, songwriter and producer I have traveled all over the world performing my songs, I have met incredible people along the way and made amazing friends. I have been Blessed to have had a few hit songs on the radio
so I was always on tour going to different countries to perform. The hardest thing for me is leaving my family behind while I’m on tour sometimes it gets very lonely especially during the Holidays and you want to be around your family but you can’t
because you have to be in a different country, city or state entertaining the public. But Once I see the happiness I am bringing to the audience and I feel the love and the gratitude they have for me, it reminds my of why I chose this career path to begin with.

I’ve learned that I was chosen to do this By God. It’s my calling. Music has a way of making people come together
by building bridges instead of walls. If I can use my music as a vessel to make people happy and inspire them then I have done my job because That is my purpose.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love South Beach, I love the excitement that it has. It has a pulse that you can feel it in your soul. The water is beautiful and warm and you can hear tropical rhythms anywhere you walk. One of My favorite streets in
South Beach is Espanola Way. It’s a cobblestone street that looks just like Spain and my favorite place to eat there is Havana 1957! The best Cuban food I have ever tasted and the vibe is intoxicating. My other favorite Spot is Mangos Tropical Cafe
the music is amazing, the vibe is contagious and the drinks are delicious.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I was in High School I was in choir class and the Choir teacher was Mr. Douglas Bischoff. I was mesmerized by the way Mr. B conducted the choir, arranged all the harmonies for us to sing
and how beautiful he played the piano. He played several instruments and made incredible musical arrangements so
by watching him I was influenced by all of that and I immediately found my passion and knew what I wanted to do with my life,

Mr B took me under his wing created opportunities for me to showcase my talent, became my songwriting partner and even gave me advice about life and my future. He pretty much became a father figure for me and after over 30 years he is still my mentor and a member of my family. I would of never pursued a career in music if it wasn’t for him and his inspirational & motivational talks.
