We had the good fortune of connecting with Odara Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Odara, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Everyone who knows me personally know that I like doing things my way. I have worked many jobs from pharmacy technician in a specialty pharmacy to insurance case worker. I made good money but I was so unhappy. I wanted something that I would be proud of , passionate about and where I can build my own brand and grow with. I’ve always wanted to be a Realtor but I was filled with fear that I wouldn’t be good enough.

Im a very spiritual person and I’m a firm believer that if I didn’t believe in myself , if I have no confidence in myself then Im doubting my spiritual court, I’m doubting my mothers and grandmothers prayers. I thought ” Absolutely Not” , who am I to doubt God. I had to really dig deep into myself and look around at all those who loved me who were rooting for me, if they believe I can , then I need to believe that I can too!

Owning my own business meant that I can make my own schedule, have flexibility with my time , and my finances. I wanted the true freedom of being able to build a career with no set salary, which meant that my income is based on the work I put into myself. I wanted the option for infinite growth and building my brand Odara Hall LLC, which people know as Odara the Realtor on social media. My business is everything to me.

I wake up every morning knowing that I’m pouring my heart and soul into my work, my own brand , building my own dream and not clocking into the job that I was miserable at building someone else’s dreams.

My thought process behind starting my own business ultimately is for me to build a legacy for my family, to be a role model for my younger siblings , and build generational wealth for my future children so they have the opportunity to be anything they want in this life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a licsenced Real Estate Agent in Florida. With a passion for service in the Miami, Broward and Palm Beach area, I am ready to help with homebuying, renting , investing and selling needs. As a proud member of the Royal Residence Realty family, I carry the values of hard work, integrity, and outstanding client service into everything. Serving these areas since 2022.

What sets me apart from other Realtors is my transparency and passion. I am not afraid to be honest and open with my clients. I think this is what they like the most. I can be goofy and still maintain my personality while making mountains move for my clients to assure top notch service. I am very calm in high stress situations and I am sure to be efficient. “Let me be your peace through your process” , I will always be that for my clients, I assure them and show them the reality of what is and get them what they need.

If someone said real estate was easy , whew, that was a lie . Every person you encounter is different and everyone you work with has different situations. Being able to be flexible and understanding each clients needs is vital because no two clients are the same. Im always taking classes and actively taking trainings because as the market and law changes , the business changes. I definitely am learning to accept consistent change and we all know that change can be difficult. Educating myself so that I can be a resource for my community and clients is a task I embrace with grace.

Lessons I’ve learned is that burn out is real. Im not perfect and like everyone else I have to maintain good physical and mental health. Finding a balance between the chasing the bag society we live in, it can be easy to put ourselves on the back burner. To avoid burn out , I make a strict schedule for myself which I actually schedule me time. I take that time to unwind, have a spa day, and just do everything I enjoy not pertaining to work. Having that balance is vital.

I strive to be the resource , the advocate and the representation for my clients to make the best decisions that can help them through the process of the one of the largest transactions they’d make in their lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite thing about living in Miami , is the beaches. I will always be found by the water. One of my favorite places to go on the weekend is the Yellow Green Farmers market, Im such an island girl, so I go straight for my fresh coconut water and cane juice. I also , love good food and music , Dukunoo Jamaican Kitchen in Wynwood, that macaroni is everything and the DJ plays all the vibes. I love Wynwood because of the art displayed and its always a good spot for a photo op because I love being in the camera. I also like Ocean One Bar & Grille in Dania Pointe, the price is unmatched and the quality of the food is unbelievable and drink prices won’t break the bank. I grew up in a guyanese house where tea fixes everything, and there’s the cutest tea shop in North Miami Beach called the Lily and Rose Tearoom , this tea is imported from Europe and they are the only place that has it. Their fresh pot of tea always helps when I’m working or organizing my planner.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to the Realtor Krystal Charlie for being a major part in the start of my career. From the beginning Krystal was genuine and supportive! From giving me guidance of steps to take with schooling , classes to take, for referring people to me to help build my brand itself. I’m forever grateful for Krystal being a black woman in business who help build another black woman on her way to a successful career.

Shout out to Alexis Evans , owner of Boss Talk Expo, FBI Cosmetics Inc, and South Florida Business Association, for being my mentor. Coaching me through the logistics and legal matters of how to create, build my business marketing and business credit. Not to mention the 2am calls she’d answer when I would be feeling a bit discouraged .
