Meet Olga Basanta | Singer composer violist pianist and vocal coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Olga Basanta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Olga, how do you think about risk?
Well, I grew up in a family os musicians, my sisters are music teachers and my parents sang in a chorus, but I decided to focus my passion as my work. And now, everything in my life is music. I am composer, singer, vocal coach, violist, pianist and I travel all around the world generating love through my music.
When you do something you believe in, it’s easier to flow, because you have something stronger that makes you keep going.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Wow! Nice question! I have been through a lot! It has been quite a trip. But I appreciate it every step of the way, because it´s made me stronger. I am a musician. Basically produce my own music. I am an independent composer, musician, singer and even producer. I have experimented all kinds of rythms until I found my own vibe. Which represents me today. I have decided to live a very comfortable life to live my dream. Now I travel all around the world to present my music. I have suffered abuse from people and the industry. I´ve lived with weird people. But it has inspired me to become a better person and create the best music. I am proud of my work. I pay for everything and I don´t regret it. Some day it will change somebody´s soul.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well it all depends. I live all around. Mexico, Miami, Madrid, Mallorca, Costa Rica… Let´s say I am in Mallorca. She will have to visit her home. The place where I dream and get inspired. Meet my cat, whom I adopted. After making her, her home, I would take her to the beach. The water is so clear that it makes you see through yourself. We would have to eat ensaimada and the most incredible thing to watch is sun set in Saforadada. A bottle of wine in Casco antiguo de Palma would be great. I would love to compose a song with her. And laugh till we drop.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have dedicated so many hours to my passion. And for that fact I have to recognize my parents support. They have invested in my true power. As a matter of fact, I think they discovered it. All the people that have inspired me. Even problems, which I get to write about. But above all I have to recognize the power within me. It is not always easy, but my soul finds a way out, and it´s all mostly through music. So maby I need to thank music.
