We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Olivia, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
What makes me happy and why is it a good question… which I think you have to be asking from time to time, because times change and you change with them, and what makes you happy today may not be the same as tomorrow… Although I think that happiness should be the path we are traveling, it is our day-to-day, it is knowing that you are alive, that makes me happy.
Knowing that today I serve someone in this world, be it my husband, my children, my family, that person who is by your side and you don’t know but you know that they need you and that you can do something for them.
Anything, from giving him a word of encouragement to giving him work to make his life, whatever a contribution… that gives me happiness.
It makes me happy to know that mine are happy and to help those who are close.
Ohh!! and why? Knowing that I am contributing something to the world, that I can leave something for their benefit… And that we can always have a win-win relationship. It makes me happy because it fills my heart,
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Creativity is the ability to create new things, to solve problems, to innovate and I have always liked to invent and do things differently from others… in my own way. I wanted to solve everything and do it my way.
Graphic design broadens in me that need and that ability to solve the challenges that will arise; because the creativity that is applied in this profession has allowed me to do so many different things and I enjoy that variety and the challenge they represent so much; is what I like the most. From painting a plane to making a wedding card, creating the window sign for and store, or, as is the case with Guudy ice cream. @guudyicecream…(my personal new project) of all the projects one of the most complete, which is barely 2 years old since I started it,
where I have enjoyed since the creation of the concept, the ice cream recipe, its image, marketing, and how much invention there is to put it in the hands of the consumer.
I realized that being creative is very broad because you not only apply it to design but you apply creativity to life itself, in the way of solving day today, with your children, with your time, with everything that It surrounds you, and if you have the ability to adapt, solve, create, invent or innovate in any area or profession, you will always, always move forward and achieve great things. It is a matter of analyzing, creating, innovating, and putting ideas into action. .
I consider myself an inveterate entrepreneur.
I have my design studio 30 years ago that started in Venezuela and continues here in the USA (@quadragrafica, www.quadragrafica.com) active designer, it is still my passion. Work with many multinational companies, Heinz, Kellogs, Colgate, Krafts foods, Coca Cola, Gatorade among many more. Creating images of products, services.
Here in the USA, I have had more to work with private enterprises, I have worked on many products that start in the local market, and that makes me very proud among other older ones… It has been a path that I have enjoyed, with its ups and downs, but In each fall, when I look back I realize how much I have grown, and I give thanks for that.
But despite the fact that this is my main passion, two years ago I started with the best of my projects, the most complete, the launch of my Guudy ice cream products. ( @guudyicecream, www.guudyicecream.com) are functional ice creams that contain flavors such as Turmeric + ginger, Chocolate + Collagen, strawberry + probiotic, Coconut + aloe vera. They are the maximum. No sugar, no chemicals, no gluten, keto-friendly, and diabetic friendly. From the concept of the recipe to the production of ice cream, through the graphic image (logo, packaging, marketing) production and printing. And currently managing the entire administrative and logistical process of placing the ice cream on the market, to provide a truly healthy and functional product. As a result of Hashimoto’s thyroid diagnosis, which forced me to make my own meals and desserts and observe, that there were so many people with the same condition, I said “and why did I put this on the market” and Guudy was born there. An adventure that is just beginning, and although it has generated a lot of stress, it has also given me a lot of satisfaction and it is a new phase in my life, different but deep down it is always the same as I have always done. Creativity, innovation, problem-solving in addition to providing health to the consumer. I have fallen in love with the process, I have had to learn a lot about nutrition and this Hashimoto’s condition, looking for ways to provide solutions in this area. This road looks very interesting and we are just taking the first steps, with a firm footing and excited about what is to come.
It hasn’t been easy, but it has been enriching and we keep going learning and looking for ideas to overcome every stone that gets in the way. And although with every obstacle I cry, I get stressed but I turn, feel, think and analyze and move on.
I have a lot to thank in this new phase to my husband Pancho, my children Lya and Eddy, my 3 sisters, my mentors Cesar and Miguel, my clients and entrepreneurial friends (must pasta, Mirakle food, Virtue, Arepas la Gocha, khezos ) to my creative katakos star designers (Mauro, la Michi, karla), to my assistant Gabriel, to Venprendedoras and to all my GUUDY LOVERS that without them we would not be traveling this path. To all of them who have collaborated with me, guided, supported, accompanied, and who have BELIEVED in me, with this project. I thank them and they have been key pieces to move forward. And I asked God to increase that creativity for what is yet to come… the adventure continues
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It would seem crazy to you, but the first place I would like a friend to visit is my house in Doral, because I like it, because I love it, because I live around lakes and a lot of green, a very young and familiar city and I love that.
Then I would invite him to the beach, I would take him by boat to Elliott key, crossing Biscayne Bay, passing by the Boca Chita lighthouse, enjoying the little beach there, and enjoying the trip through the bay surrounded by only the sea and the key, breathing fresh air … Then I would take them to eat at Rusty Pelican in Key Biscayne, sitting outside facing the sea … very nice and delicious.
On another day I would give them a ride to North Florida through Sarasota. I would take them to the #1 beach in Florida Siesta Beach with spectacular white and soft sand and in the evening I would take them to the
The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, where the work of James Turrel is located, and then go to eat at St Armands, there in the roundabout where there are many places to dine…
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The first person I want to recognize is God for putting in me the creative spark and the talent to make the best possible use of it. I want to recognize myself, for being so committed and insistent on achieving what I set out to do; to my husband for always supporting me in my madness and giving me encouragement, making me believe that I can do anything; to my children who drive me and give me strength with their love and trust and to my family especially sisters and parents who have always believed in me. All of them have always been my main driving force. They also deserve all my recognition to all those clients and friends who have believed in me and my talent and who with their trust have helped me grow during my personal and professional path.
