We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Olivia, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in Sinaloa, Mexico. I come from a big family, I have 5 brothers and 5 Sisters. From an early age my parents showed us how to work hard for what we wanted, it didn’t matter if it was a piece of candy or a new car. If we wanted it, we had to work for it! When I was 10 years old my Father passed away in a bad car accident, so my mother and older siblings took on the role of raising me, I can tell you they did it right!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Mar Mar’s Bomb Shop started because I wanted to show people with sensitive skin that they can still use bath products to have fun in the tub and enjoy some self love time without the harsh ingredients. My son Marcus has been my inspiration for creating the formulas for my product. He suffered from severe eczema since an early age, but he loves baths so I started creating bath bombs, bath teas, and body butters to help heal his skin. It has not been easy to put my business name out there, it’s really hard to compete with big stores who make product like yours. People are not willing to pay small businesses a little more for a better product when we have these big stores making cheaper options out there. Another thing that has not been easy is the financial and book keeping.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t spend much time out due to Covid. But we wold probably go to top golf and Fogo De Chao for some good food. Also we would spend time in Sedona and Flagstaff.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Husband Allen, he has always supported me through everything. He always cheers me on and pushes me to continue to be the best version of my self. He’s the awesome cheerleader everyone should have!
