Meet Omar Sicilia | Singer-Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Omar Sicilia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Omar, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I am a father, I have a 13-year-old daughter, I have always told her that human beings must have some values, principles and feelings to be good people, children alwys have questions, one day she asked me if I wanted to be famous , I told her that what I have always wanted to be is to be happy, happiness is what I will always want, I think that is the most important thing that I have instilled in her

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The best definition I can give for my music would be Music, Love and Fredomm. It is a mixture of many flavors, colors and feelings, it excites me a lot every day when writing, singing and producing my songs, more than explaining with words what differentiates me from other artists I invite you to listen to my new album

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start with a coffee at my house, I’m making the best coffe in south florida lol, I would show them new songs from the next album that is already in pre-production, lunch would be at Redfish by Chef Adrianne, the food is extraordinary and (very important) not very expensive , in the afternoon we would go to Cerveceria La Tropical, the best craft brewery and best live music in the heart of the city of Miami, the next day we would go to key west to spend the rest of the week

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I come from one of the poorest and most humble families that I have ever known, now I live in this extraordinary country, I have the blessing of playing and producing my music with wonderful and very talent people from whom I learn every day, I am lucky to love and be beloved, I always wanted to have the opportunity to fight for my dreams and now I have it, so I could mention all the people who have helped me because I have an excellent memory, but to be honest, my heart beats faster when I think of those guys who still live for example in Puerto Padre (my hometown), those young artists who are writing extraordinary songs but they do not have the resources to make their music, not even strings to put on their guitars, I prefer to mention and dedicate any success that I obtain to them
