We had the good fortune of connecting with Omavi Waite and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Omavi, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Well, I always told people that writing / poetry came to me, I didn’t necessarily pursue it. I was always a philosophical/ mystical thinker/feeler, and in my sophomore year of high school, I started writing poems and ideas on Facebook. From one poem to the next, I always felt the writings come to me, like it was my soul speaking through me. Professional wise I decided to put all of my poems into a book, and from one book to the next, I decided to become an author of poetry and pursue that as my creative career.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art form is poetry, and my poetic style is spoken word. How my writing is stylized is in a kind of essay formate, meaning that my poems aren’t a Short read. Every time I write, I take up a whole page in my books. I write very metaphysical, philosophical, and psychological. A lot of words that are included in my poems are such, existence, lion, magnitude, gifted and divine. Making the work wasn’t too easy, but not anything too challenging, but coming up with the financial part of my career was a bit challenging, but I pulled through. I overcame the challenges by envisioning my self with successful books and performing spoken word all over the world, one thing I still envision is expanding to opening for theater plays and opera and band performers. The lessons I’ve learned along the way are, patience, believe in yourself, and trust yourself. One thing I’d like the world to know about myself and my story is this, if you trust yourself, you can achieve anything you desire too.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, based in fort- Lauderdale, I’d take them to many places, mainly to eat. One place is P.S green vegan express, regardless if they are vegan or not. I’d also take them too a kava bar near by for a relaxing night out, maybe to catch up on life or talk business. I’d take them to another place to eat and also shop holistically called Earth’s Goddess. I’d also take them for a day at the beach, to just relax and soak up the vibrations.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a big shout out to first and foremost my parents for birthing me, but really and truly my auntie Deon was the one who helped me publish and get my writings copy-written. She also has her own business called Loveblossomessentials.
