We had the good fortune of connecting with PAJAMA JOSH and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, how do you think about risk?
When I was growing up, my mother shared with me the expression, “God doesn’t help a parked car.” This expression resonated with me when I was younger and has stuck with me ever since. It instilled in me the power of taking risks, and to follow my heart, even if that means jumping into something head first, sometimes without a parachute. There are a lot of variables you can’t control in life, so believing in yourself while taking risks has always been key. You never know how something will turn out until you put yourself out there!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Thank you for asking! I started making music when I was about 9 years old, first teaching myself how to make my own beats on Garageband, and then later learning the ins and outs of Logic. While I was honing my craft as a songwriter/producer, I was also studying classical music as an upright bassist. I graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2019 with my Bachelors in Commercial Music Composition, and last year, won a golden ticket, advancing to the Hollywood Week round on this passed season of American Idol on ABC. I’m most excited about working on my debut album which is all about technology, social media, mental health, and how those concepts intertwine. I would say the biggest challenge thus far has been prioritizing my mental health + managing my time and creativity throughout the pandemic. Finding things that ground me and bring me joy has been so important, and practicing those things daily has really helped me. The biggest thing I want people to take away from my music, is to dance, think, be inspired, and most importantly, love themselves.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, the first place I would take them would be to my favorite bagel spot, Way Beyond Bagels, in Delray Beach. We would then enjoy the scenery at the Morikami Museum to get away from our phones for a bit, and then take an Uber to downtown Delray. We’d end the night by getting ice cream at my favorite ice cream shop, Kilwins and watch the sun go down at the beach!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be where I am today without my family, friends, colleagues, professors, mentors, and fellow artists for supporting me, encouraging me, and believing in me and my talent.
