We had the good fortune of connecting with Pamela Brunner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pamela, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Finding balance between my health, personal and professional life hasn’t been easy. I had to heal my own traumas and shift my perspective. Once I worked through that, it reflected in my work. That’s one of the reason my business is called Balance by Pam because finding balance is not only about the physical aspect also includes, mental health, spiritual and emotional balance.
I’m grateful and blessed to have wonderful and loyal clients in the Miami and Estero areas.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Born in Quito, Ecuador, I was inspired by my mother, an innate healer who used natural herbs and remedies to nurture our family. My journey took a transformative turn when I moved to Spain and became a young mother, facing significant challenges, including verbal and physical domestic violence. These experiences ignited my quest for healing and resilience.

During this difficult time, I met my martial arts sensei , Pedro Fleitas, who teaches Bujinkan Unryukai Budo Taijutsu in Gran Canaria. Under his guidance, I discovered my courage and developed a profound passion for the human body and its healing potential. I learned various massage techniques, acupuncture, and integrative healing methods, leading me to create my own style that emphasizes holistic wellness. I believe in the dual power of strength and compassion—if I can cause harm through martial arts, I can also heal with love and the tools I’ve acquired. My mission is to inspire others to embrace their strength and find their own path to healing.

In 2013, I moved to Miami, Florida, where I was fortunate to meet my husband, Michael. He became my guardian angel, supporting me unconditionally in all areas of my life. However, my Spanish certifications were not recognized in the American system, so I had to start over. This was an extremely challenging experience, especially due to the language barrier. Thankfully, my former massage school, Educating Hands, became a wonderful environment not only for mastering the art of massage but also for learning English.

Despite my passion, the lack of understanding about my autoimmune disease, Hashimoto’s, led to excruciating pain in my hands. A doctor suggested I consider changing professions, as if that were an easy solution. This experience propelled me to pursue a Master’s in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, where I gained a profound understanding of the connection between emotions and disease. This knowledge deepened my commitment to holistic healing and also pursue my holistic coaching with Bioneuroemotion and the Wise Method.

Through healing from the inside out, I learned to challenge limiting beliefs, reshape my thought patterns, and cultivate a loving relationship with myself. I believe in the dual power of strength and compassion—if I can cause harm through martial arts, I can also heal with love and the tools I’ve acquired. My mission is to inspire others to embrace their strength and find their own path to healing.

Last month my niece Carolin Romero told me about an International Massage Championship hosted in my home country in Ecuador. My intentions in the beginning of this trip it was to connect and experience without expectations, and I was overwhelmed to obtain gold medal in therapeutic massage and silver medal in free style massage. This experience not only allowed me to showcase my skills but also to connect with talented therapists from across Europe, Central and South America. I was inspired by the diverse techniques demonstrated by the instructors, the judges and my fellow competitors. I look forward to participate in future competitions around the world.
