We had the good fortune of connecting with Pamela Trage and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pamela, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
My name is Pamela Trage, ASID, NCIDQ, RID 5644 and I’m a registered interior designer working in the South Florida market. My secret to happiness is living a well-balanced life. I love the work that I do for clients and making time for myself, my family, and my friends.
I believe in positive, uplifting cultures, where like-minded people attract others with the same values, beliefs, and norms. I’m a true believer that we are what we think about. Thinking confidently and positively makes me happy.
Designers are trained to be expert problem solvers. Critical thinking is a skill that I use every day. Interior design is both an art and a science. We apply proficiency, and our know-how to resolve difficulties in situations that most have a hard time figuring out. Generally, a client reaches out when they have a space that needs to be designed or an issue that needs to be resolved. It’s our job as interior designers to find solutions that are practical, purposeful, and meet our client’s needs. In return our clients are happy.
I’m also inspired by very simple things. I see beauty in nature and original art. I love strolling along the ocean’s shore or riding my bike through neighborhoods to observe the architecture that dominates the area. Along my travels I may come across a single flower and the color of the flower will awaken a new design direction for a project that I’m working on or trigger an idea to resolve an issue that’s currently on my mind. These very uncomplicated situations inspire me to be better at everything in life and this makes me happy.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Pamela Trage is an award-winning interior designer that provides interior design services specializing in unique, custom solutions. We have vast experience in designing luxury interiors for busy professionals, homeowners, homebuyers, and business owners. Most of our projects are renovations or new build construction. We work directly with architects, contractors, builders, and developers. We enhance the interiors by working closely with the end-users to mold the process so that the client confidently receives the look and feel that they desire. We handle everything from initial meetings to final walk-throughs.
Lately, especially on smaller-scale renovations, some consumers decide to subcontract the work on their own and hire my firm to help pull everything together. We provide an initial consultation, listen intently and develop a comprehensive strategy to accomplish their goals. We provide independent services such as floor plans, renderings, and shopping assistance. We also offer full-service interior design.
What makes my business different is that we customize strategies and solutions for each design project. For instance, a developer recently hired me for a smaller high-end renovation project and was mainly interested in my services for selections of materials such as solid surfaces, wall coverings, cabinetry, and color. He knew where he needed support and we provided the assistance that completed the job.
We also apply creative solutions to common situations. I’ve been known to put a spin on an ordinary surface with an unexpected color or a texture that enhances the beauty of the room. For example, a long-time client hired me to design an investment property she recently purchased. As you opened the front door there was a support wall that couldn’t be moved. My solution to the eye sore was finding a gorgeous pebble tile and hiring an artisan to install it. The result was amazing and completely changed the look and feel of the entrance. The client was thrilled and most importantly, the property was rented right away. I advise my clients to look at the cost of my professional services as an investment as opposed to an expense.
We take on all types of projects encompassing homes, businesses, and yachts. To schedule a consultation with a complimentary discovery call, I can be reached at 772.205.9576 or 239.318.9902. My email is designersbest@outlook.com. We are located in Fort Lauderdale and welcome all challenges.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Funny, I just experienced this exact situation. Three of my best friends from high school planned a girls’ weekend in Miami. We stayed at the Biltmore in Coral Gables and enjoyed the accommodations and historic sites. We went shopping in Coconut Grove and browsed through the quaint boutiques and art galleries that line the streets. Later, we walked over to Dinner Key and stopped at the Bayshore Club. The restaurant sits on the water and we took pleasure in the views, cocktails, and appetizers.
I also recommend the restaurant Talavera in Coral Gables. The Mexican food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect to enjoy longtime friends.
Furthermore, I frequent the Design District for my business and always enjoy the diversity of the city and the variety of stores in the area. I always find what I’m searching for and never leave disappointed. There is so much to do in Miami and the surrounding areas that I recommend to everyone to take the time and enjoy the experiences.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to recognize my clients for each one of them taught me something different about myself. All clients are unique and every project inspired me to stretch myself and think differently. My success relates directly to the positive feedback that I have received over the years. Client satisfaction has always been my number one goal.
Furthermore, my parents were instrumental in my development as a hardworking, independent professional. My father’s work ethic was honorable and my mother’s dedication to her family was selfless and smart. As an example, she was an artist and incorporated her craft into our daily lives. One project I specifically remember was my sister’s wedding dress. She had designed and hand-sewn a beautiful white silk gown with pearls attached throughout the bodice and skirt. The result was a masterpiece and I was mesmerized by my mother’s talent and tenacity. My mother was intelligent and she bestowed her gifts on her children. In return, I feel blessed every day!
