We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrice McCreath and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patrice, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One aspect of the food industry that outsiders are probably unaware of is the extensive amount of experimentation, testing, research and development that goes into creating and perfecting food products. Above developing products that appeals to our consumer preferences, there’s standards and regulatory requirements that can’t be overlooked. Overall, it’s a labour of love and I enjoy the entire process from idea to delivery.

What should our readers know about your business?
Patreats is an exclusive producer of artisanal food products infused with wines and spirits. The company name was derived from my own name, Patrice, combined with my love for creating treats. In late 2022, we introduced our inaugural consumer packaged good, Infus’d Fruit Gourmet Spread, which pairs perfectly with grazing tables and charcuterie boards. Within six months on the market, it won Best New Product at the Retail Council of Canada 30th Grand Prix Awards.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Bloor-Yorkville — somewhat a posh Toronto neighbourhood, filled with elegant shops, trendy restaurants and Victorian homes. Kensington Market — a very diverse and vibrant neighbourhood that offers cusines that originates from all regions.
Queen Street — fashion and art district thats great for shopping / restaurants / night life
Graffiti Alley — tour Toronto’s famous street legal graffiti artworks
Distillery District — a historic district restored and transformed into a charming architecture of one of a kind shops, cafes, art galleries and more
Edwards Gardens — great place to wind down on a stroll while taking in the views of beautiful gardens and peaceful scenery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest advocate for pursuing this business venture is my spouse, Rayon. His unwavering support has been my greatest encouragement and determination to succeed. His contributions to the business has tremendous and continues to shape the brand and move us closer to achieving our objectives. I’ve won the lottery twice with him. Very grateful for two of my mentors, a food incubator leader and a food scientist. Also, a shoutout to my tight knitted family and friends that provided encouragement and feedback along the way.
