We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Gambino, MD and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paul, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Dr. Gambino-I wish patients understood the difficulties insurances present when it comes to patient care. It is incredibly frustrating as providers to have the care of our patients be dictated by the insurance company. I pride myself on staying up to date on the latest techniques and treatment so it’s disheartening when something I know my patient can benefit from is denied by their plan.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our practice provides high quality and comprehensive care to South Florida families and communities. Our goal is to enable them to achieve optimal health. We support this through a wide-range of thoughtful, integrative, and evidence-based practices. I believe what sets us apart from other primary care offices is that only do we offer several ancillary services in our office, we strive to treat each patient like family. By taking time with each individual, we can properly understand their needs and we can provide care that is both friendly and personalized.
I joined another physician in this practice in 2015 and later became the sole owner in 2017. Being a business owner is never easy. It requires persistent, which is something I have always relied on, even as a medical student. It’s not giving up even after being told no. It’s the continuous drive to become more by calculating risks and staying true to your core values, both personally and professionally.
I’ve learned along the way that in order to succeed in any business, it’s imperative to give your client a reason to come back. For me, it’s the relationships I have fostered with my patients. My bedside manner is casual, friendly, and approachable. I try to make my patients feel as comfortable as possible. I think by doing this it eliminate the apprehension patients feel about going to the doctor and for me, it makes for a more fun day. I love being able to connect with my patients and enjoy following their journey to be the best them they can be.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have to take them to Atlantic Ave. in Delray Beach. There are so many great spots, it would be hard to chose, but we’d definitely have to catch live music at Tinroof.
For a nice meal, I like to take to people to Matteo’s in Boca Raton. Everything is delicious and is served family style which makes for great conversation. The clams can’t be missed and every pasta dish is fresh and authentic.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my Shoutout to my family for keeping me humble and teaching me the true meaning of hard work. And of course, my wife Chelsea for being the best partner not only in life, but in business.
