We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Lombardi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
A quote from Abraham Lincoln always stayed with us. “Don’t worry when you are not recognized, but strive to be worthy of recognition.” Our motto came from this quote, Be Worthy of Recognition. This applies to our products and why our customers purchase them. The coin displays we make in many cases are showcasing a challenge coin representing a special achievement or milestone. We are proud to be able to help present their coin which means so much to them.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

The beginning was challenging, trying to find the best way to display the coins the way I wanted, while also making it easy to take the coin out when needed. After some trial and error, we created the perfect design. Our Rotating Coin Displays are made with a pivot so a customer can rotate the display easily to see both sides. The unique design where the coin is held also enables the customer to easily insert and take out the coin.

The design isn’t the only thing that separates us from the competition. Unlike others, we create the displays using only natural woods. Since the color and grains of the woods can vary, this makes each piece even more unique. We offer a variety of exotic woods such as African Padauk, Wenge and Jatoba.

The constant challenge is staying in front of the consumers, always working on something new, and staying ahead of the game. We started offering custom displays designed specifically to the customer’s wants and needs which keep us ahead. Many of these custom items incorporate a corporate logo either engraved into the wood or even as the actual shape of the display itself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I love to take the time and enjoy our beautiful city with my family. There is so much to do and see; a lot of people don’t realize just how much. We enjoy the variety of restaurants available. There is one in particular we went to that was great, Old’s Havana Cuban Bar & Cocina. From the outside, it seemed small but then they brought us to the courtyard in the back. Decorated with a bunch of memorabilia and vintage items, the overall experience was great.

We also look to experience things that are not the norm. We recently saw something new that opened up at Bayfront Park, the Dogs & Cats Walkway and Sculptures. You get to stroll through the garden lined with colorful art in the form of various life-size dogs and cats. We plan on visiting this soon.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Coin Displays was born out of my love for collecting coins and my creative nature which comes from my father and grandfather. Soon after launching my site, I started receiving orders from veterans and active military. I looked into it further and found that what they were displaying was called a challenge coin. In the military, challenge coins generally serve as an award for a special achievement. They can also be given out as a commemorative medal for all who are in a particular unit. The tradition is that all those who receive one are supposed to carry it on them at all times. If they are “challenged” to show it and do not have it, they will have to do something requested of them. This could be pushups, buying a round of drinks or something even more creative.
