We had the good fortune of connecting with Paula Delores and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paula, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite affirmation is do what you can today, and the rest tomorrow. I love this affirmation because as an entrepreneur, mother of two, and wife I have to divide my daily hours between all three of those things. Some days I literally run out of time and then my anxiety kicks into overdrive. It used to be so bad I’d feel like a failure, or I’ll stay up all night trying to finish minuscule things like taping boxes up, mopping the floor, or creating content. This quote literally saves my life because to be honest, if the clothes don’t get folded today, I know i have tomorrow it’s not life or death. If I forget to tape boxes up I know I have tomorrow so I’ll make a plan to get up 30 minutes early to tape them. This quote grounds me, keeps my anxiety at bay, and helps me put things into perspective.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Melanated Bar started off as just self-care for me. I was just mixing products and researching things solely because I enjoyed it and wanted a product that’s not only natural but healthy to the point where I can feel a difference in my physical body while using them. It was definitely easy to start my business because I was just selling the extras I would have leftover from my own batches. Lessons I learned along the way with my products is that my products aren’t for everyone, even if I want them to be. I have a target audience of course but even with that some products just don’t work for everyone. I used to have a hard time with understanding this but now that I know it, I know how to navigate my business accordingly. The main thing I want the world to know about my story is that it was started with self-care in mind. Being a mom, wife, and everything else in my life I have to manage it’s hard to find time for self-care. I took my skincare routine and turned it into a self-care routine as well and now I am sharing it with the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestfriend was visiting me in Florida, I would definitely take her to Tampa. The city and culture there is so rich especially in Ybor City. I think we both would enjoy relaxing and sightseeing instead of being in the hustle and bustle of night/club life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family is a huge driving force in my story. They are so uplifting and supportive in everything that I do. My mom gave me the push to start selling my products that I actually were just creating for myself. And my dad helped me come up with the name The Melanated Bar. Shoutout to my family.
