We had the good fortune of connecting with Paula Gerez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paula, what do you attribute your success to?
Together with my sister Josefina we managed to put our stamp on coffee break, after a start of effort and learning. Our dream began to come true. The idea started in a talk in another cafe and today is a success.

I arrived from Argentina in 2015 with a lot of desire to undertake and seeing what job opportunities there were, start working on an Argentinean restaurant and my sister running a day care. We came and see this place in Bay Harbor Island that used to be a french bakery, the owner only spoke french so we used the google translation to start talking if we can buy the business, and making all our effort we got it!

we start serving the customers, generating a cozy, friendly place with homemade and delicious options. We learned from the hand of all our firts customers, paying attention of what they were looking for.
we established a beautiful relationship with each person who came in, customers & staff, making them feel at home, that was the key and continue to be the spirit of “Coffee Break”

It was a step by step, we were 3 at the begining and now we are 16. We had the desire, the passion and the need for this to work. And today we are proud to open many job opportunities.
We thought a lot about what we would like to find in Miami that there was not. we wanted the place to be fresh but strong in its warmth and coziness, where people would have a good time, eat amazing food, variety of fresh drinks and charge energy, all at a friendly price.

we want customers to eat and feel at home. Variety of savory options, sweets, special dishes of the day, from mini bites to hearty dishes, all fresh & homemade.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

It was a path of much effort and learning at the same time. We learned together with our clients. We did market at 5 in the morning, we arrived at Coffee Break and put on the apron and our best smile and energy to be ready to serve our customers and neighbors. We finished every day very exhausted but so happy and grateful for so much growth.

Our differential was tailoring our dream to our customers needs and desires, helping, caring and showing love through each handmade special dish. and treats.

Our motto has always been to make our customers and staff feel they are at home when in our place. It was not only our place but their place.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

The family, where from a very young age we were instilled that things are earned with effort and with a vocation for service, always trying to give the best, being hardworking and respectful of everything we undertake.

Commitment and resilience have been the foundation of our family
