We had the good fortune of connecting with Paulette “Tinkerbell” Pfeiffer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paulette “Tinkerbell”, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
We Stand for Kids (Silent Victim’s of Crime) assists children of inmates by enhancing their ability to improve their economic, educational and personal stability and addressing behavioral, social and mental issues. We help these at-risk children to deal with life challenges in a positive, proactive manner that empowers them to make wise choices and contribute positively to society. Our LEADERSHIP encourages our children to deal with issues relating to their family, as well as teach them their place in society as contributing members, not as victims or dependents on the system. We also provide opportunities for art programs, birthday parties, therapy, and work with Federal CARE Court for family reunification.

What should our readers know about your business?
Silent Victims of Crime was the first organization of its kind to find the missing children of those who were incarcerated and providing them care and guidance. Early in her career, Paulette Pfeiffer, or Tinkerbell as most have come to know her, obtained a ten year contract with the U.S. Attorney’s office in the Eastern District of New York, translating wiretaps for the D.E.A, and interpreting for international conspiracy trials. It was here that she first became aware of the complete disregard for the children of prisoners. In 1997, Paulette became a partner of Global Food Industries, and she, her husband, and friends created a non-profit foundation called We Stand For KIDS, a program for children of incarcerated parents. In 2005, Paulette resigned as Executive Director of We Stand for KIDS for the purpose of advocating on behalf of children of prisoners on a national level, and Silent Victims of Crime was born. Ms.Pfeiffer has developed a comprehensive program entitled “Five Circles of Support”. This program creates a focus on the critical tools these children need during their developing years through a holistic empowerment program, where the child is nurtured through after school activities, mentoring and leadership programs. Paulette is most proud of keeping children out of prison and having them graduate high school. She has been able to overcome challenges by her strong support system, board, and advisors. She would like the world to know that children of prisoners do not have to go to prisons if given the attention and support they need.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Tinkerbell loves to take her guests to Bayside Park and Española Way.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Diana Venturini has been instrumental in providing feedback and guidance for our program to reach its full potential.
