We had the good fortune of connecting with Pedro Torres and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pedro, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Maracaibo, a city in the Zulia state of Venezuela. Growing up in Maracaibo had a profound influence on who I am today, as it shaped my values, work ethic, and passion for health and well-being. From an early age, I was exposed to a culture that values close-knit communities and personal connections, which has deeply impacted my approach to medicine.

As a surgeon specializing in Orthopedics and Traumatology, I realized that the traditional focus on treating illnesses wasn’t enough. My background led me to pursue a Master’s in Clinical and Sports Nutrition, where I learned the importance of prevention and a holistic approach to health. I now dedicate my life to promoting a more human-centered medicine—one that emphasizes teaching people how to prevent illness rather than just treating it. My experiences and upbringing in Venezuela instilled in me the importance of education and compassion in healthcare, and that drives my mission today.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a healthcare professional passionate about teaching people how to stay healthy and avoid illness. I focus on promoting a more human-centered medicine, encouraging lifestyle changes instead of relying on medication. It hasn’t been easy, but along the way, I’ve been fortunate to have the right people who have taught and supported me. Overcoming challenges is part of life; if you’re not falling, you’re not moving forward. Facing these challenges is crucial on the path to success.

What I want the world to know is my life’s purpose: to be an agent of change and light, helping to transform over a million lives. To me, that is what it truly means to be a millionaire. Success isn’t defined by the car you drive or the zeros in your bank account; success is defined by the legacy you leave behind.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I wanted to show my friend what a perfect day looks like for me, I would take them to spend time with my family—my wife, my daughter, and my dog. We would simply live in the present moment, because that is the only perfect moment as it is. If we are not able to experience it as such, life passes by while we keep searching for happiness.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I thank God for giving me life, my parents who taught me values, discipline, and respect, my grandparents who shaped my personality through life examples, my wife who is my rock, my pets Pancho and Fabio who have taught me what unconditional love is, Guillermo Rodriguez who gave me my first opportunity in this country, and every single one of my patients.
