We had the good fortune of connecting with Peter Perello and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Peter, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Great Question! I think behind every great brand there needs to be an even greater person x team. People don’t become successful overnight, it takes time. In many ways to build a brand and a message that conveys something that’s different but similar and personal to someone it takes more than just money or “clout”, clout can’t touch someone’s soul it can only magnify your ego. So the most important factor to my success is my faith and foundation who is Christ and the most important factor behind the success of my brand is most definitely the community that’s built around it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
This is a great Question, there’s so much to say but to start off. Nothing in life comes easy, unless your lazy lol, but for real nothing in life is easy, that be it working two jobs every day to make your dreams a reality to maybe having to work extra hours and places you don’t wanna even be at. There’s many other examples I can give but the point is if you wanna be successful you gotta work hard!

Starting my label SIMON X PETER it wasn’t easy, I had to go through some setbacks, delays, stops.. in order to actually have a proper brand x label that could convey a message that truly meant something to not only me but to people! I didn’t just wanna have ANY brand I wanted something that meant something to people and that in itself wast easy, yes I could be as creative as anyone else can or could but what truly sets you apart isn’t just a “brand” it’s yourself and how you are.

So from there I had a lot of self-reflection, what areas do I lack in, what areas do I need help in, not just creatively but also mentally, physically, emotionally. My art will only be as good as I ever will. So I started seeking help, I started getting mentorship from people that I wanted to be like, I started asking people who were wiser than me and much more older than me questions about areas that I lacked in. In order for me to be successful, in order for my “brand” to succeed, there’s a lot of self-work that needs to happen first before anything else! Life is about growth and constant changes, who we are is a reflection of what we do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is awesome! I have this love and hate relationship with Miami BUT!! Miami is a beautiful city, first place I would definitely bring them too is the beach, the beaches here are beautiful. Second place would probably be Design District and Red, White and Blue Thrift Store. If your with me your gonna be looking at clothes… ALOT! I love thrifting but I love going to these high end stores down in Design District just cause it’s cool to see the quality and garments of the clothes.. alright third cause I’m getting a little side tracked here haha, but third place would be a restaurant named the Taco Stand or Pinolandia, Taco Stand has these amazing burritos filled with cheese, beef, avocado, fried fries best burrito I’ve tasted! And than obviously Pinolandia can’t forgot my Latin Roots, they have carne asadas, gallo pinto, plantain everything and anything you would find at your abuelitas house.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to shout-out a lot of people tbh, there’s so many young creatives down here in Miami that I’ve been able to work with, but to be fair there is one person that I really owe it too and it’s Aldhair Ramirez he has his own studio x space down here in Miami in the heart of Wynwood named Up2Something Studios! He’s been able to guide me, help me and really let me focus on my brand and help build up my brand called SIMON X PETER, he saw the vision, he believed in the message and he understood that there was a necessity for a brand like this to be shown to the world. He’s like a big brother to me and he’s a great friend! Thankyou Aldhair for believing in me bro, love you man!
