We had the good fortune of connecting with Phillip Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Phillip, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
From a little kid I always knew I wanted to own my own business. I just always loved the feeling of being free and making my own decisions and rules. Always knowing that my efforts determines my income, and there isn’t any cap on that last time I checked.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a Real Estate Agent in South Florida. What sets me apart from the others is that I have patience, and I am pretty relatable to most. I am definitely most proud of the people who I helped find their new homes, and how much it has positively made an impact on their lives. I get true fulfillment with that. I got where I am today by getting out of my comfort zone. Even when I didn’t want to. Also in having faith, and staying consistent. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is consistency is key because when motivation is not there discipline is what takes place. Another lesson is to listen more, and do less talking. Since the pandemic I definitely went through quite a lot. From losing my childhood dog, my brother, and getting fired from my job that I loved. I still kept pushing. To then having to be fully responsible for my uncle who has an amputated leg and is blind, and of course many more things. But that is life, and I am no different than anybody else. So, one thing I would like everyone to know is if I can do it then you can too. Keep on fighting and believing in any dream you have.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There will be dinner by the beach. Maybe a place like Prime 112, Nobu, or SeaWatch. Night life would be at Wynwood. Maybe Brick, or Wood Tavern. Depending on the time of year go to sports games, and concerts. We are in South Florida, so we are definitely going to the beach. Ride Jet Skis. Rent a yacht for the day and do some fishing. Take some tours of beautiful homes as well since I would want my best friend to move here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to my Mother who always believed in my dreams and backed me in every way she can. My loving family who always gave me constructive criticism when needed, and motivation. My friends who have seen me go through ups and downs and have stood by my side. Last, but not least God for him putting the right people in my path who either gave me the best lessons, or opportunities.
