We had the good fortune of connecting with Pierre Lenis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pierre, why did you pursue a creative career?
My father and mother are both artists. They expressed their creativity through glass design and painting. I was encouraged at 6 years old to sketch which led to my desire to be an animator. This led me to pursue a degree in screenwriting and film production. A part-time job at The Gap in NYC had me helping actors, newscasters and people in fashion. A chance sale with a buyer led me to the most famous store in the world : Bergdorf Goodman. My attention to detail, passion for fashion and love of customer interaction helped jump start my luxury retail career.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I help men be the best version of themselves by building and editing their wardrobes. My experience with Bergdorf Goodman along with working with the finest luxury brands from Stefano Ricci to Brioni to Dolce and Gabbana have taught me how to create custom wardrobes for clients from all over the world. I am proud of my eye for detail and knowledge of design that fuels my passion for fashion.
My experience with the finest luxury brands in the world along with learning from and working with master tailors and artisans has given me a very unique sartorial education very few people possess in my industry. This took place over 30 years in NYC, Canada, Europe and the US. One store at a time with clients as young as 7 and as old as 84.
I have learned to listen to clients and have also developed the ability to encourage them to push their comfort zone and try something new.
I want the world to know that men can look great no matter if they are at a special event, in an office setting or just relaxing near home or on vacation.
My goal is to instill in others, the confidence and joy I feel when I get dressed everyday.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take a walk through the Design District and do some shopping at some of my favorite boutiques such as Loro Piana, Stefano Ricci, Gucci, Ferragamo and Giorgio Armani. My favorite spots to drink and dine would be close to home in Coconut Grove. New places like Bayshore Club, Sushi Garage and Narbona are some of my favorite restaurants to take family and friends and my wife and I love the bar and amazing team at Bellini Bar at Mr. C.
Also, I just recently discovered on the fourth floor in Brickell City Center a fun place to bring out with out of town guests: Puttshack. Great cocktails, a fun casual menu and friendly staff are there to make sure you have a very enjoyable miniature golf experience.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout-out to “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. She has so many great observations but what continues to work for me everyday is the power of positive attraction. I also want to give credit to my wife Lori Lenis. From our first date she has supported me in my career. Thanks to her love and believing in me, I have tried things that are outside of my comfort zone. These two factors have brought me to this point of my life and career.
