We had the good fortune of connecting with Pilar Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pilar, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think for me the key factor is the consistency, on not giving up, believing in myself even if there has been people telling me for example the the genre that I play is taking me nowhere. Always be focus on what is your goal, no distractions of any kind.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Jmmm where do I start, first of all No it was NOT easy, it took so much work to get where I am, because everyone thought that because I’m a good looking girl i did not had talet i just wanted to show off, and because of this i wasn’t given the opportunity to play, and if i was hired to play at a place they would be pay me $50 or only was given 3 drinks for 3-4 hours of work. Since i wanted to be heard at first i was accepting this to be able to gain more opportunities, but unfortunately this kept going for a while and it wasn’t easy to keep living with this amount of money, i was frustrated and decided for my birthday to create a theme party called Ancestral Soul it was in the middle of COVID, and it became a sold out event, was so happy of the outcome because after this the opportunities where getting better and better. I overcome my challenges by investing in myself, taking risk, when I did my most viewed mix for ephimer which i paid for my career has taken all around the world, i’ve have had more than 4 million views on this video with no paid publicity, also Ancestral Soul has became one of the most iconic parties in Tulum where me and my boyfriend are partners on this project and have brought Korolova, Eelke Kleijn and many more. The lessons I have learned are to not to accept deals that are not worth your work or time, even if people tell you that you are not worth it, doesn’t matter I have been in that position where i wasnt valued for my work and is not fun. The part that i’m proud of now is to see how far i have come, I have played with all my favorite artist, I also have a podcast called Trybal Sessions where I have had guest like Saint Evo, Hanna Hais and very soon Eran Hersh it has been a journey of constant work. I want the world to know that this is just the beginning.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well where I live in Playa del Carmen I would recommend visiting Xcaret park where you will immerse yourself in nature with beautiful beach and rivers. Then would travel to tulum to see its beautiful beach that the colors are very different of playa, and visit great beach clubs like Vagalume and have a fun night out at Bonbonniere Tulum, that by the way we have our monthly residency of Ancestral Soul there.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely my family and my boyfriend they have been my full support on my whole career, they have encourage me to keep going, also when I wanted to give up they always had my back and cheered me up.
