We had the good fortune of connecting with Polina Petukhova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Polina, how does your business help the community?
That’s a great question! Like for so many others, 2020 brought new challenges. It was a year of pivots. And I’m happy to say that those pivots helped me to better myself as a person and as a coach. The demand for both wellness and career coaching grew as many people saw their routines spinning out of control. I was able to help my clients navigate through changes in their lives, gain more confidence in their health, and plan for the future. And isn’t that what people needed most during the global pandemic?!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As you can imagine, diving into a new career and growing the business during a global pandemic is not easy. That being said, losing my performing job to COVID ended up being the push that I needed to gain that momentum and opportunity to share my skills and knowledge with a wider range of people. My original focus was on helping fellow artists that found themselves in a similar situation as myself, I like to refer to it as the “what’s next?” stage. I was able to use my personal experience and education in coaching to relate to them and help them to navigate through their own unique circumstances, life, and career changes. Sometime in Fall 2020, it became more and more evident that having to face the pandemic and quarantine many people were now looking for a health coach, they were looking to feel healthy and confident in a long term, and in a short term to go back to their pre-COVID bodies and reflection in the mirror (Did you know that average American gain 1.5 pounds of weight per month during quarantine?). So, I expanded to where the demand was and branched out into this new niche. And it has been nothing but a fulfilling experience, that can be summed up by this recent client’s testimony: “I wouldn’t say I lacked confidence or was particularly down prior to hiring a coach but I have to say there have been so many positive changes that have come with the journey… Not only do I look and feel better physically, but I’m also happier, more balanced, less grumpy, and all around just a better person than I was three months ago. I’m so glad I did this… thanks for your help!”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wynwood has always been one of my favorite spots in the city. When we first moved to Miami, we made a point of being close to the area for its artistry and charm, the good food, and the nightlife! Wynwood changed since then, drawing more and more tourism (clearly, I wasn’t the only person that was drawn to it), but the charm and character are still there! You can easily spend the entire day walking the streets submerged in street art. Make a quick stop at MIAM for a coffee, or a Salty Donut for a quick treat. Walk through Wynwood Walls, stop at a gallery, come back in the evening for a drink and good music at No.3 Social or TheDeck. And don’t even get me started on Art Basel week!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My journey as a health and life coach is only starting and I’m confident I’ll meet many people along the way that will contribute to my growth. For now, the biggest thank you goes out to my husband Tariq. My best supporter and in many ways my personal coach and inspiration.
