Meet Porshia Banks | Fashion Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Porshia Banks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Porshia, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by people enjoying their lives. The things the Dolls (my support base) are doing are what influences my design and buying selections. Right now, they’re really into brunching, fine dining, traveling and working hard. So, I try to build collections around their lifestyles.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Porshia brand is different from other brands because we really encourage fun in fashion. We don’t believe in compartmentalizing the fun for after work, after parenting, after school. I really try to add those fun fashion moments that may be reserved for “after work” and incorporate it in each and every look.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The best restaurants are Versace, Dior Cafe in the design district, Sexy Fish, Buya Restaurant and Joey’s for the best Italian food. Dancing the night away at the Clevelander and Liv. Palace has a brunch you absolutely can’t miss. Baia Beach Club is one of the most relaxing places to lounge and it’s obligatory to catch some sun on South Beach. There’s so many cool places to catch a vibe.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The matriarchs of my family really inspire, support and motivate me. I try to channel a little of them in everything I do. My mom is the sass and creativity, my grandmother for tenacity and organization, my great aunt for bravery and boldness. And I honestly some of my fave Real Housewives for showing that you can work, love, parent and build a business all at once.
