We had the good fortune of connecting with Priscilla Castaneda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Priscilla, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted more for myself and my family. Working for someone else, there was always going to be a ceiling, I would never make more than the CEO and I wanted to be the CEO. Now, I am. I can structure my life and work how I want to, and now there are no limits. I have more time to spend with my daughter, be more present. Given, I am working twice as hard, and have longer days, but I sleep comfortably at night knowing that I am building something that will one day be my daughters legacy. I want to make her proud. Women can do it too!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Real Estate Professional in my 2nd year and I fell in love with an industry I didn’t even think I would like. I remember taking the course and thinking “This is boring”. However, once I started working with clients, and learning how a transaction actually works was when I started getting excited. I realized it was more than a sales career, it was something that I love, which is helping people.
Prior to real estate, I was a pediatric medical assistant for over 7 years. Ive taken a lot of the experience and skills I’ve developed in that industry into this profession and it has made a huge difference for me. I think it has made it easier for me to interact and be sympathetic with people. I have learned that people are truly lost when it comes to buying a home, so I try to walk with them every step of the way. I don’t just want to sell my clients any house, I want to make sure they are truly happy with the Home they choose for their family to make memories in, actually understand the process and make educated decisions.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much to see, it’s honestly hard to choose. I would start the day at this cute breakfast place my fiancé took me the other day, its called Mr. Baguette. I absolutely loved the bacon, egg and cheese croissant and caramel macchiato. We like to explore Wynwood and Miami Design District, we enjoy taking photos with the beautiful murals the artists have created. There is so much talent out there and it’s just a unique vibe.
What is Miami without enjoying our beautiful beaches? We enjoy walking the clear sand and tanning is just part of what you do.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Firstly, my daughter, she pushes me everyday to be the best version I can be. She looks up to me, watches my every move, why wouldn’t I want to be a great example for her? My fiancé, for pushing me when I doubted myself, my family and friends for always celebrating my wins, no matter how big or small. My mentors, I’ve been blessed to join an industry where I didn’t know anyone, to having a family that helps, teaches and guides me everyday.
