We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachael Moshman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachael, how does your business help the community?
I went through a very stressful emotional crisis in 2021. I lost relationships that were extremely important to me and the grief was crushing. I was also fired from two writing jobs in a short amount of time and was dealing with mystery health issues. I felt lost, alone, terrified, and unworthy. Therapy was the only thing keeping me from totally sinking. My therapist urged me to work on self-love. I created a journal with daily affirmations and prompts to help me practice loving myself. I published it because I realized I’m not the only person who needs a little help finding my self-worth. Then I thought about what else I needed help with. I created more of the tools I needed and made them available to others. I’ve created journals focused on morning routines, therapy, body confidence, gratitude, goal setting, inner child healing, and more. I love it when people reach out to tell me they’re using the journal they purchased and it’s making their life brighter and easier. And I still use them myself!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been a freelance writer and editor since 2011. I blog about life after marriage, motherhood, and divorce at ramblingrach.com. I’m also an early childhood mental health consultant and teach early childhood education classes at the college level. (Basically I mentor, coach, and teach preschool teachers.) The journals are a great combination of my skills, knowledge, and experiences both personally and professionally.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s so much to do in South Florida and the Treasure Coast! I’d spread the week out over the whole area. A search for the best cafe con leche and Cuban pastries in Miami would be at the top of my list! We’d need that caffeine to explore all of the local museums, galleries, and boutiques along the coast. We’d, of course, need a couple of beach days, as well as a sunset river cruise or two. Lunch and a spa day at Gloria Estefan’s Costa d’Este hotel would be the perfect end to the week.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I created the first journal at COLAB, a co-working space in Vero Beach. The owner, Christina, is an amazing cheerleader and sounding board. Though the journals are already available for purchase on Amazon, my official launch party will be held at COLAB on April 3 – and you’re invited! Reach out to me for details. My therapist, Rachelle with Illuminating Pathways, has been extremely supportive and purchased my journals for each of her clients at Christmas! Then there’s my best friend, Patrick. He’s been balancing my emotions with logic since the 8th grade. I knew I was on to something special when he was excited about the journals. And most of all, I’m so very thankful to everyone who has bought one of these journals, especially those who have shared the stories of what led them to the purchase.
