We had the good fortune of connecting with Racquel Bradley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Racquel, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Since launching JMZ Processing, I’ve learned quite a few lessons along my journey, I can’t pinpoint the most important because they’re all valuable lessons. My risk management skills were few to none, I learned that risks are necessary and it’s pertinent that we accept what comes thereafter whether it’s good or bad and learn from it. Once I implemented these key points:
*Acceptance. This means accepting the risk and taking no action to mitigate it. This is for risks that will only have a small effect or are unlikely to happen.
*Avoidance. This means making every effort to avoid the risk. This is for catastrophic risks that are almost certain to happen.
*Limitation. This is the most common mitigation strategy, which aims to limit either the likelihood or the effect of the risk.
*Transference. This is the transfer of risk to someone else who is prepared to accept it. This is used in areas outside of a risk manager’s core competency.
I became someone who is not afraid of taking a leap of faith when it comes to my business and not “beating myself up” after a decision doesn’t go the way I planned. To anyone with a business or business idea, don’t’ get discouraged, step out and step up!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
JMZ Processing at its core is founded on my love, sacrifices, triumphs and defeats, losses and lessons. I sincerely wake up every day with the earnest intent to help someone, help themselves. I’m a giver, I don’t mind sharing, I gladly assist and educate others with the tools to empower themselves. Someone did it for me and the greatest blessing I could ever list would be the ability to help the next person. Our services cater to the public in various capacities: administrative, judicial, and business education; considering our notarial services, which include but are not limited to: immigration apostilles; divorces, child custody documentation and both residential and commercial real estate deeds. Our judicial community resources include legal certifications as a process server within both the 15th and 19th Circuit Court Jurisdictions. JMZ’s training and development area of business is currently expanding. We offer courses, both virtual and statewide, for ink fingerprinting; business launching. We currently have a team of mentors to cater to the needs of our enrollees. The “lessons”, not losses, I’ve had been immense; I recall being manipulated as an unknowing, emerging business owner into hidden fees and contracts, which resulted in misusing almost all of my start-up money. I had to pivot my business direction overnight and introduce a new skill set, and the list goes on. If I can impress anything upon the world, it would simply be that “you can do it, if you want to!” With determination and faith anything is possible, my mission is to help anyone who’s willing to believe that with me.
My proudest accomplishments throughout this journey have been
*Graduating Indian River County Chamber of Commerce Leadership program
*Serving as an Ambassador for the Stuart/Martin County Chambers.
*Holding second place for “Best and Leading Fingerprinting Company along the Treasure Coast.”
*Being featured in VoyageMIA magazine
*Being recognized as the first African American woman to open a fingerprint company in Martin County
*Being legally sworn in as a Process Server for both the 15th & 19 Judicial circuit
and launching a business mentoring course.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend of mine were to come to Miami, we’d have to visit South Beach, and have lunch after walking the Ocean Drive scene, or people watching, we’d grab a clean and crisp sandwich from Le Sandwich or a bottomless brunch in Midtown. Touring the Miami Design district and looking at the shops; to casually enjoying the culture of Art District and enjoying a show at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts or the Olympia and immerging ourselves in a play. One evening, we’d have a late dinner at R-House in Wynwood or a simpler “Mango and Tajin Cup” from their local produce market. The variation of quaintness to extravagance that Miami offers presents a limitless opportunity for an unforgettable experience.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Not everyone gets the recognition they deserve so I would love to speak on the people in my life who have encouraged me or supported me along the way.
The most important recognition goes to God. I give God all the honor and glory because without him I absolutely would not be where I am today. He has led me every step of the way with my career, and I thank him so much.
Without my children, Jayla, Marley and Zay (JMZ), none of this would be worth it. I founded this company because I wanted to leave a legacy for my children to have their very own business. As time passes and I go through the journey of entrepreneurship, I realize I’m leaving more than just a business. They have been my motivation to keep me going no matter how hard things seem to be and giving up cannot ever be an option, for their sake.
Dennis is one of my best friends and an active member of the US Army (Thank you for your service, D). When I was working for the Post office, I was just a girl with a dream and Dennis did everything in his power to make my dream become a reality. He was the first to invest in my vision for JMZ Processing, LLC and my notarial training. He has done so much for me along the way, words cannot do his thoughtfulness any justice. Dennis, I seriously love you for everything.
I would like to also recognize my sisters, Kiera Bradley, Cherelle Debose, Anterria Reid, and Brittany Huey, these ladies have been such a great support system. They have been there for me every step of the way. They’ve shared my advertisements; listened to me when I needed to vent; and encouraged me every chance they get! I love and appreciate them dearly. A special shoutout goes to Brittany Huey, a fellow entrepreneur, and CEO of “Brittany Creations”, she specializes in homemade candles and aromatherapy, her consultations and products are amazing and have helped me relieve the stress that we as business owners face daily. When I first started JMZ Processing, I was struggling a lot with my marketing and branding, it was Jusui C. Lumpkin, CEO of Kingdom Professional services, who set my website up, made flyers and promoted my company all for FREE. This was the beginning of a beautiful and lasting business relationship. I faced a great deal of struggles in this journey, and he has always lifted me up and encouraged me to keep going. He always reminded me to continue to keep my faith in God and things will work out for the better. He also keeps a smile on my face. I’m forever grateful to him. I love you, Jusui.

Last but not least, Tony Huey. Tony is a Lead Welder & Fabricator, who aspires to launch his own business very soon.
The love and passion he has for fabricating is why I want to recognize him. I’ve had days where I felt like I lost my drive and passion for my business. I felt so defeated at times but there was a time I asked him, “what do you like most about your job?” He informed me, “it’s not the job, but it’s his craft he loves.” I had to adopt that philosophy and it hasn’t failed me yet, his drive and “no excuses” mindset really pushes me. I always remind myself as to why I started the business and when things get hard, I tell myself, “No excuses.”
My accolades and recognition could go on and on…. but special thanks to: Tori Meder (and family), Jeremy Bradley, Royeal Frasier-Lewis (CEO of Frasier-Lewis Law Group), Rodney Hayes, Jermaine Simmons, Mario Palmer (Owner of Snack-Head Vending), Johann B., Kacey Smith (signandclosewithkacey.com) and so many more!
I appreciate all of the love and support I constantly receive; I couldn’t do this alone!
