We had the good fortune of connecting with Rafael Roger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rafael, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I opened my company my thought process was to provide the best customer service that I could. In this buisness its a sign up and forget about the client. I said I want to do the total opposite.
What should our readers know about your business?
When Roger first started his business, he had several goals in mind that set him apart from others
in the business. First and foremost on that list is
his focus on customer service. While some public
adjusters will take the first offer from the insurance
company to get their share of the profit, that is not
how Roger operates New Path Public Adjusting
Group. He credits the financial stability of his firm
for allowing him to operate this way.
“I’m not interested in closing claims out fast so I
can get my money and run,” says Roger. “I’m going
to hold out, work hard to represent my customers
and try to get them as much as possible because
my company is in a financial position where we
can hold off and do the right thing by the client.
Sometimes you can get a larger payout for the
customer if you continue to work the claim for a
longer period. It may take longer, but I’m keeping
my client’s best interest in mind.”
Another key to success in public adjusting,
says Roger, is to build a network of other trusted
business professionals around you. “It’s important
that adjusters align themselves with like-minded
professionals, including attorneys and others, that
lend good support and also have a good reputation
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would say off the beaten path type places. Coconut Grove, Pinecrest, South Miami. Has a ton of new and instresting places. Then of course I would take him to Brickel, Wynwood and Downtown.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Roger credits his extensive background in the
property service industry for his ability to grow
his new business. His success over the years has
led him to reach out and help other young entrepreneurs in the Miami area realize their visions
for their businesses. “I have mentored a few young
entrepreneurs during the past five years or so and
taught them key things I have learned along the
way in my professional career,” he says. “I love
watching young people bloom and not only open
businesses and make money but also help others in
the community with their products and services.”
Of course, Roger credits his family for his success
as well. He was able to grow his previous company
to over 100 employees, and it all started with just
him, his brother and his mom helping out around
the office. Roger, his wife Jessica and their six-yearold daughter are proud residents of Palmetto Bay,
where they have lived for the past six years.
With his unique approach to the business, Roger
is optimistic about the years ahead. “It isn’t just
about the money for me,” he says. “I want to help
homeowners get back on their feet after experiencing an issue that required them to file an
insurance claim.”
