We had the good fortune of connecting with Rainel Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rainel, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Id say, when it comes to your dreams… take the risk. Its ok to take a risk and try your best to accomplish your dreams. Even if you fail. Most people don’t even try. Don’t look at it as a fail. Look at it as a learning experience. As growth. Your next attempt will be better than your last.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Basically I run a mobile kayak and paddleboard tour and rental company. What is unique about us is we will bring you equipment and a guide to any location of your choice. Custom fit and tailored adventures to your specific liking. We know that not everyone is the same so we do not expect every tour and experience to be a cookie cutter type. Whatever your idea of a perfect adventure is, we make it happen. We constantly are up against new challenges and learn more and more everyday. Starting such a unique business has been a tough battle but I have learned that with kindness, patience and empathy, anything can be overcome and there is always an angle that works for everyone. On our paddles we always say, “this is not a race, its about smiles per hour, not miles per hour.” So in a nutshell, we are more about having fun and not so much about your paddling skills. Skills come with time and practice. But if you had fun you will more than likely want to return for another go around.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well thats easy. Since I am always in the water I would recommend all water related activities and food. For a early morning activity I would choose a sunrise Ocean paddle maybe out of workd famous Haulover beach were there is also a very nice snorkeling area. For food Id recommend Duffys Sports Bar in North miami beach that is accesible from the water with a pool onsite with amazing well priced food and drinks. For hang out I would recommend Sand spur island in north miami as well. The atmosphere is very alive with hundreds of kayakers, paddle boarders and boats. Also there are several food vendors that come to the island and provide amazing food at a reasonable price to all the island party goers.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost id like to dedicate a shoutout to my wonderful girlfriend Tiffany who has pushed me, helped and supported me in every way to reach for my goals. Non of what I have accomplished would have been possible without her. Also my Mom and Dad that have also encouraged me and believed in me and supported me be throughout the entire process. And last a big THANK YOU To the Paddle Family that I have made along the way for all the support and help they give unconditionally week in and week out.
