We had the good fortune of connecting with Ra’Mone Marquis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ra’Mone, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My authenticity and relatability has allowed me to have success. Rather it is my books, blog, foundation, or podcast; these two components draw people to me and mixed with my personality, it allows me to continue to grow. My authenticity has been completely stripped down and my pain has become my purpose. There are a plethora of levels to which this allows people to not just relate to me, but find me to be a safe place. With everything I do, I am dedicated to what I call the 3 E’s. They are enlighten, education, and entertain.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is Tru Phoenix, LLC which oversees my podcast The QB Zone, my blog The Quis Box, and 5 books – 4 of which are Amazon bestsellers. Guided by my objective to Enlighten, Education, and Entertain; I use my personality, intellect, and various life experiences (good and bad) to make people feel good and to give people an outlet. What sets me apart is this; i am going to take you on a ride that you’ll be glad you’ve taken and i am going to tug on multiple emotions. Rather you are listening to my podcast, reading any of my books or blog, or witness me interacting with youth through my foundation – you are liable to laugh, learn, and cry in one sitting. Running a business comes with a lot of challenges and is no where near easy. However, Not settling for the word no and being patient has gotten me where i am today, and there’s so much more to do and accomplish. i haven’t even scratched through the surface yet. There are 2 things that I am most proud and excited about and they are: 1. i didn’t allow traumas to cause me to give up on me or my goals 2. I started a scholarship fund through my foundation Tru Phoenix Foundation, Inc. It is named after my late grandmother Amanda B. Fluellen and is a book scholarship for freshmen students attending a HBCU.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My bestie, Reneisha Byrd, and I love a good drink, food (especially tacos), and cigars. We would start off the week on Sunday with an Brunch at Bottled Blonde or Just Spoons. Monday would be an amazing ambiance and food at Red Rooster which I am obssessed with. We could eat tacos everyday so we would definitely be having taco tuesday at Bar Rita. Wednesday would be an opportunity for us to spoil ourselves, so we’d rent a boat with open bar through Miami Boat Party. A dope lituation and hookah would be our Thursday night plans as we’d experience the always good time of HOBA Lounge. The best cigar lounge in south Florida is Black Smoke Social and we would visit there Friday night, dope mature audience, excellent cigars and vibe.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Amanda and Lawrence Fluellen. Biologically they are my maternal grandparents but in life they were my parents, with them having raised me from the time I came home from the hospital. They were my biggest supporters and my rock. Always by my side, they made me constantly feel that I could accomplish anything…especially during those moments where I didn’t believe that I could. My entrepreneur spirit I got from my grandfather, who had a successful landscaping business for over 40 years. My grandmother introduced me to God and constantly fed my spiritual relationship. She stayed on top of me with my education. She kept my head in a book even before I knew how to read. They both supported all of my various talents and hobbies. More than anything my grandmother showed me what unconditional love was and they both showed and instilled in me the importance of hardwork and independence. Without their protection of my mind, body, and spirit; I’m sure I wouldn’t be alive today.
