We had the good fortune of connecting with Randi J Norman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Randi J, what are you inspired by?
Have you ever experienced an ‘Ah-ha’ moment?  Of course you have!  Have you ever seen someone experience one?  Seen the look in their eyes?  Seen the sparkle and sense of sheer wonder and possibility wash over them?  Those are the moments that inspire me everyday.  Seeing someone view themselves differently – watching them as they come to know a new aspect of who they are and what they were created to do – move me tremendously!  There is nothing like being a part of a person’s process of becoming.  It’s an honor and a privilege.  When my writing, speaking or performing of any kind move on the hearts and minds of those who hear it or read it my heart smiles, my tank is full and my purpose is fulfilled.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a storyteller for Christ. I am a vessel to be used by Him to speak whatever His Spirit leads. And EVERYTHING speaks! There was a time in my life when I didn’t believe that I had anything valuable to offer anyone. I didn’t think my voice or my thoughts mattered. I didn’t think that I had anything truly worthwhile to offer the world. I did a lot of things, but they all had to be pulled and pried out of me. I often did things full of doubt and insecurity, only because someone pushed me to do it. Then I met Pastor Greg Powe and everything started to change. He said, “God doesn’t need your ability – He needs your availability.” The interesting thing is that he demonstrated that principle long before he ever articulated it in that way. That demonstration that he later gave voice to built leaders who spoke life and gave opportunity for spiritual and natural growth to take place. Sometimes God speaks through song, He’s spoken through dance, He’s spoken through acting and writing and spoken word poetry. These creative mediums allow me to tell His story so that someone will come to see more of Him and know more about who they are in Him. I’m thankful that through my book, Spirit Spoken: A Spoken Word Journey of Faith, the corresponding EP along with the invitations I receive to speak, God is able to use me to encourage and build up His people.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of the best places in the city are places that I love, but don’t get the chance to hang out in too often. I love Curtis Hixon Park! There’s always something fun and interesting going on down there, including one of my favs – Yoga in the Park! We’d have to hit up Sparkman’s Wharf for some interesting ‘food truck’ type food and catch some live music by the water. Pizza downtown at Eddie and Sams is AMAZING and a perfect spot to grab a bite to eat while you’re out and about.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this Shoutout to the many amazing leaders I have encountered at Revealing Truth Ministries in Tampa, FL. Their obedience, patience and love nurtured a seemingly shy individual into a bold and brave vessel who embraces her beauty and voice.
