We had the good fortune of connecting with Rashard “Roman” Paul and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roman, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I felt and still feel that I have something unique to give the world by spreading my knowledge gained from over 10 years of dance. Having felt drawn to grow and strengthen the next generation of dancers. I set out to create my own brand and do exactly that! I believe there’s a need to keep Commercial Hip Hop accessible, and available to learn; not just in South Florida, but world wide! Roman Dance Company makes that possible, and easy!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The concept of Roman Dance Company was created in 2017 along with our current logo. It took me 5 years, a lot of hard training, professional experience, and having built a tolerance for excellence to realize I should have taken these steps sooner. Now here I am years later giving back to the community; building up the next generation of young aspiring dancers. Creating opportunities, and luxuries in the dance industry that I did not have while starting my dance career. I think it’s so important to create a space for dancers to take a commercial hip hop class and feel like they are belong, as their mentor I push my dancers to grow into their highest potential. At this point I learned what it took to create a brand from scratch and market to millions of people. I want you all to know I have been working since 14, exactly 10 years later is how long it took for me to semi-master my craft and create a business and brand from it. It means the world to me to see dancers on the floor and training online worldwide, learning from Roman Dance Company.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
