We had the good fortune of connecting with Rashea Shamone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rashea, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to create a playground for aspiring, novice, and avid travelers alike to come together and find community through learning a second language whether Spanish or English, and connecting with a plethora of travel and self-development content while exploring the world and themselves.

Club Spanglish as the name suggests is a blend of cultures, languages, and people, a melting pot of sorts that offers language and self-development online courses, digital products, coaching services, a monthly blog, and a community of travelers.

After seeing how much an impact traveling, and experiencing different cultures, languages, and people from all walks of life had on my self-development and career, I wanted to share that with people around the world to see that they, too can find happiness and fulfillment through traveling and exploration.

Club Spanglish started out as a bilingual school in Mexico that offered online and in-person English and Spanish classes as well as bilingual events and meet-ups such as Spanglish & Shots but has grown into so much more. Just a few months ago we relaunched in Jamaica where we’re working on creating more online courses, digital products, and services, and bilingual merch which are available through our online store.

We are currently in strategizing mode for the new Jamaican market and plan to offer more events, trips, retreats, and workshops throughout 2024. We’ll even be launching our women’s only club, Women Who Explore which will be hosting its own podcast for members only.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of how I have used travel to heal some of my trauma wounds, reinvent my life and career, create a more fulfilling life for myself, work on my travel writing craft and continuously build a business that aligns with my passion for traveling, learning, and helping my community. Through traveling, exploring nature, and meeting people from around the world my worldview and perspective of life has evolved completely.

All the incredible encounters and nomadic adventures I’ve had over the years have positioned me to be able to create Club Spanglish. I get to help other aspiring or new travelers replicate my methods or create a method that works for them while having access to an amazing BIPOC community at Club Spanglish. From learning a second language, and reading our blogs and e-books to booking a consultant to help you plan your nomadic adventures and so much more, Club Spanglish has something for every traveler.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shout out Toni Jones. Her affirmation music albums undoubtedly helped me to change my mindset and take control of my life by changing my self-talk.

I also learned a lot from self-help books such as The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra, War Against Art by Steven Pressfield, and Super Brain by Deepak Chopra and Harvard Medical School professor Rudolph E. Tanzi. These books among others have changed my view on how the brain works and how to achieve success and create a fulfilled life.
