We had the good fortune of connecting with Reecy Ricketts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Reecy, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
At first when I started the business, I was all working the business. I am hungry for it to be a success. I was overwhelmed and stressed. I realized I had to incorporate the other factors in my life. Myself, family and some fun. I use a planner to help me go the day. I schedule a me day every month. Block out times for different projects etc. Thats been my strategy.

What should our readers know about your business?
When I thought of EGirl Friday WorkBar, I wanted a place where Female Entrepreneurs. not only had a place to get their creative juices flowing, but also network with other female Entrepreneurs. How could I convince ladies to pay a fee when they could simply go to Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts for free. I offered free coffee, snacks, water, printing and fax services all included, and if you wanted wine, there was an upcharge. This was my 1st business, and I was clueless on how much work it would take to build a brand! There were definitely some mistakes and I learned from them. I just keep at it, constantly putting myself out there. Networking is key! In order for the world to know your brand, we have to be out there. I was an Executive Assistant for 20 years and I loved it. Everyone was asking for help, so I figured why not start a Virtual Assistant business and thats how EGirl Friday Virtual Assistant Services was born. I then I extended it to the EGirl Friday WorkBar. My brand is all about empowering women.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love music, so I would take my friend on the Las Olas and definitely enjoy live music.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to both my Grandmothers Rosa Moncrieffe and Nellie Brunn and my Mother Monica McKenzie…all entrepreneurs.
