We had the good fortune of connecting with Regina Watkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Regina, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson that our business has taught us is perseverance. Having been in business since 2006, we have experienced many changes and, as with all projects, there are highs and lows. It has been our team’s philosophy to be tenacious to ensure that our projects turn out as intended. There are often a lot of moving pieces including dozens of contractors and hundreds of pieces of materials including furnishings and fixtures to bring a project to fruition. Often times there can be uncontrollable delays and unforeseen circumstances that we have to overcome. We have learned that its important be positive and steadfast to bring any project from its infancy to completion. It’s been a lesson that has proved to be important in all aspects of our lives both professional and personal.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Chelsea Design is a collaborative effort between myself and Samantha McKenna. It was born out of our combined desire to offer a boutique level design firm approach for large scale projects. Since we love what we do, it was important to us to be involved in all aspects of our clients projects so that our insight and expertise would ensure the best outcome for our clients. Experience has given us to knowledge to solve problems quickly with limited impact to the project. We built our brand on the relationships we’ve forged with both our clients and suppliers. These relationships are extremely important to us and we are mindful to carefully consider maintaining our relationships for the strength of our firm. Having a strong foundation and keeping our companies core principles while being open to change has been the secret to our success for the last twenty years.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We always love to support local business within the Little River area. So we normally start our day with a great cup of coffee at Imperial Moto Cafe; it has great energy in the morning before heading into the office. There are some amazing lunch spots that we really love such a D’Ivo 79 Cucina, Luna Pasta e Dolci and, Ferraro’s Kitchen. All have an amazing wine selection which makes it a fantastic lunch or dinner spot and they draw local crowd so we’re always bound to run into a colleague or friend we we haven’t seen in a while.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We, at Chelsea Design, are very thankful for our support team of manufacturers and suppliers that work their hardest to produce the best products for our clients. For almost two decades, we have been working with some of the best tradespeople in the industry and they have become like family to us.
