We had the good fortune of connecting with Renata Esmeralda Munoz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Renata Esmeralda, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks is the foundation for all opportunities that could lead to success and sometimes failure. Taking a leap of faith and diving into the deep end proves that you have the willingness to learn and the courage to face defeat. In 2015 I pursued a degree in Interior Design, thinking that it was exactly what I wanted to do. Unfortunately it ended up not being enough for what i wanted for myself at that time. So I ventured into the business side of my life and took a risk by helping open up, and design a boxing studio in the Hamptons. After opening up the gym, I had realized that it was not my dream that i was pursuing. I felt lost and trapped, so i decided to start fresh and moved to south Florida, where I would begin my academic career in Architecture. I had always thought that becoming an Architect would be my dream job, but after two years of being in school, I once again felt as if I hit a career road block. It took time to really understand what I wanted out of my life, but after months of networking I discovered Real Estate. Real estate has been able to mesh my artistic abilities with my love for architecture as well as play off of my previous entrepreneurial experience. The point to my past experiences proves that taking risks, and learning how to “fail” can actually lead you to discovering your passion. Learning from my mistakes has ended up giving me the necessary experiences that needed to purse my true passion. In my life, facing the fear of failure has helped me develop a stronger personality as well as conditioned me to be a successful entrepreneur..
What should our readers know about your business?
As a luxury focused real estate agent I have to set my self apart from all of the other real estate agents that tailor themselves to selling high end homes. Building a brand and fulfilling a distinctive niche has to stem from your innate drive to be the best, while balancing it with a new yet unique set of aspirations or game plans. As a realtor who tailors to mostly 20$ million + homes, it is important to harness a variety of skills, that not only involves selling the house itself, but mostly building meaningful connections with the others involved in the process. Setting yourself apart from others is always a challenge no matter what profession you are a part of. In real estate particularly, there is such an over-saturation of agents, that you have to have the drive and willingness to never give up or you won’t survive. If you think you have been the first one to do it, think again, someone has already done it. For me I have been able to set myself apart in how I conduct my multi-level analysis of a home prior to listing or bringing a client to it. In my past, I had the opportunity to earn a degree in Interior Design, and work for a Miami re-known luxury interior decorator. After 2 years of interior design, I pursued Architecture school and during which, worked alongside a well known Southampton Architect, Jason Thomas. All of these previous opportunities in my life funneled me into my true passion which is real estate, and now gives me an upper hand since I can deduce a house to its foundation while at the same time dressing it up to luxurious standards. In January of 2020, I made the choice to relocate from Southhampton, NY to South Florida solely to pursue a career path in real estate. Relocating on its own is never easy, but coupled with a worldwide pandemic, it was even harder. It was definitely a struggle since the pandemic forced the real estate world to revamp to be more “online driven,” so I took the opportunity to start reconditioning how I showcase residential/commercial inventory. This ultimately lead me to the large social media presence that I have had on Instagram and making videos of property walkthroughs. Not only has this helped me build a variety of amazing connections but it has also introduced me to an amazing set of clients and influential leaders in the industry. I believe that the most important thing that you can do for yourself and your brand is harness the ability to adapt to the environment that you work in as well as the conditions that are forced upon you so that you can ultimately get a step ahead of everyone else before they have a chance to react.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friends were coming into town, I would definitely take them to the Hard Rock in Hollywood for a variety of entertainment. The Perez Art Museum is also a “must-see” for amazing art installations and architecture. For great food and drinks I would take them to downtown Miami or even Wynwood. There are so many great options to choose from. Depending on the time of year, an event or two such as the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show or Art Basel, would definitely be on the itinerary.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
