We had the good fortune of connecting with Renee Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Renee, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Helping—that’s always been my driving force. I wanted to support parents and their children with school assignments, assist students struggling with reading and math, and, most importantly, help them build confidence and believe in themselves. The increasing workload of assignments, projects, and tests can be overwhelming for families, impacting not only quality time together but also children’s mental well-being. My motivation has always been to ease that burden. If we can make life a little easier for families and help students reach their academic goals, then our mission is truly fulfilled.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a tutor, my goal is to help students believe in themselves. I focus on their strengths, using them as a foundation to build confidence in areas where they feel less secure. By fostering a positive mindset, I empower students to approach challenges with resilience and self-assurance.

As the Director of Miami Homework Help, I work closely with my team, ensuring that every tutor has my full support. I am always there for them, providing guidance and encouragement so they can do their best work.

The success of Miami Homework Help comes from the strong connections our tutors build with their students. We make sure every student feels heard, understood, and supported. We also take the time to engage with parents, listening to their concerns and making sure they feel confident in our ability to help their children succeed. Our commitment is not just to academic progress but to each child’s overall growth and confidence in school.

Like any company, we’ve faced challenges, but what keeps us thriving is our passion for what we do. Our inspiration comes from our students, and we are dedicated to never letting them down.

The Story of Miami Homework Help
The idea for Miami Homework Help was born one evening while I was visiting a friend. As she prepared dinner, her daughter worked on her homework, frequently calling out math questions. My friend, busy in the kitchen, shouted back answers. Watching this, I realized this was the reality in many Miami homes—parents need help! That night, the concept of Miami Homework Help came to life. Since January 2020, we’ve been supporting families across Miami with one-on-one tutoring. We now have two convenient tutoring locations in Coconut Grove and Edgewater, along with virtual tutoring options.

About Me
I was born and raised in El Salvador, where education was a central part of my life. My parents owned a private school, and I spent my afternoons and vacations helping students with their assignments or simply playing with them. Choosing a career in education felt natural. After earning my teaching degree, I spent several years teaching in El Salvador before moving to Miami.

In Miami, I have worked as a preschool teacher, a Piano and Art instructor, and an ESL and Spanish teacher. Education has always been my passion, and I believe that every child learns in their own unique way. As educators, it is our responsibility to adapt to their individual needs, creating an environment where they can thrive.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you’re visiting Miami these are the best places to go:

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
