We had the good fortune of connecting with Rhett Ullmann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rhett, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Not sure if they’re habits, but they’re definitely traits:

1. Adaptability – I’m always able to pivot. The people who win the most fail the most, and it’s because each failure is just another iteration. Very few things function as absolutes. Find what works, then find what works better. I’m a huge believer that constant change is the only path to true success. Average is the enemy.

2. Relentlessness/Consistency – I have found that the more I work, the more I receive as a result of this work. All my biggest wins have come from sticking to things I didn’t want to do, whether in business, sailing, or life in general. My Instagram bio used to be “Do More, Be Better” for this very reason. Results come from effort.

3. Optimism – A positive attitude has taken me so far. Just being present, smiling often, and offering an amicable response when conversing with someone is one of my favorite attributes, both in myself and in others. Happiness is contagious. People react to the moods of others. A little positivity goes a long way.

Best Burger: Lokal in Coconut Grove or iBurger in Edgewater. Tough call.

Favorite Water Activity: Racing my sailboat out of the US Sailing Center on Biscayne Bay.

Favorite Nightclub: E11EVEN. I love everything they stand for. E11EVEN is the most iconic brand in Miami.

Favorite Day Club: Strawberry Moon. A vibe.

Favorite Brunch Spot: Casadonna. I live above it, and this place is nothing shy of stellar. Or directly under the Bentley Residences in South Beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my father. For his endless support and unwavering faith in the mission. Thank you. Between the resources and the guidance and the morale boosts at times I’ve needed it most, my father has contributed to my business and my life in more ways than most consider imaginable.
