Meet Ría | Singer, Songwriter & Fashion Merchandiser

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ría and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ría, how do you think about risk?
Without risk there’s no reward and that is how I’ve thought about it for a while now. One day, I decided that it if I wanted to live the life I dreamed of I would have to make it happen for myself. Which is when I started creative directing my own videos/photoshoots, educating myself in the fashion merchandising business & taking risks with my creativity. After working hard and seeing the rewards of my work I realized that none of would’ve been possible if I didn’t decide to let risk play its part in my journey. I have a long way to go but I am glad I’m moving forward willing to take these risks.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Ría, I am a singer, songwriter & fashion merchandiser. I create music, creative direct music videos & fashion photoshoots. I also am a honors graduate with a degree in fashion merchandising. What sets me apart from others is the ability to play more than one role in my creative journey. All the work you see on my social media and streaming platforms started as an idea that I made a reality. From songs to looks to themes to photo editing. I do not have any sort of team yet, no management, no PR, no makeup artists or stylist, it all comes from educating myself on how to do these things, creativity, finding the right people and hard work. It definitely has not been easy, there have been many times where I’ve been too distracted to stay consistent or times where I thought I didn’t have enough resources to complete these projects but honestly it’s all a mindset and just going for it. When I changed my perspective, stopped worrying about what I didn’t have and just focused on me, believing in my talent & putting it to work is when I really got in my bag like we all say lol! I’ve learned that absolutely no one is going to give you what you want, you have to go & get it yourself. That you have to believe in yourself before anyone else does & not be afraid to show the world what you can do. Also, that it does not matter if you can’t do everything you want just start small and the universe will reward you with opportunities to expand.

I want the world to know that my work is self expression and an example that when you decide to be yourself you become the best you can be. I want to show what confidence can do for you & that there’s not true outer beauty without inner beauty. I want to encourage everyone to shine bright, be bold & unapologetically themselves.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Welllll I sure have had my fun in the amazing city that is Miami lol! That being said, I would make a dinner, party, relax & recharge itinerary for my bestie. The Downtown Miami & South Beach area would be my go tos. Dinners at Swan, Thatch or Taco Craft. Drinks in Wynwood with a little dancing dance. One night at Story or LIV Miami, a karaoke night in Brickell & a visit to any art exhibit in town or the ARTECHHOUSE. Tanning by the Mondrian pool or Ocean Drive. The city is full of life and you have to experience at least once or twice in your life. Here for a good time not a long time and I will absolutely make sure it’s memorable. I have fun in different ways I enjoyed Miami’s nightlife and met many people along the way but sometimes I just want to go see some art, have a nice dinner or catch a movie at a Cinebistro, it really depends on my mood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to every single individual who has encouraged me to keep going in my creative journey & has always believed in me. From my family, my partner, my friends that have been to my performances or created my Instagram content with me, to many people on social media that have shown me love or sent words of encouragement. To the people that have helped me bring my music to life like my videographer & sound engineer.

It means the world to me when they’ve all gone out of their way to help me or just by manifesting success for me. I love you all!
