We had the good fortune of connecting with Rikki D and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rikki, what role has risk played in your life or career?
They say; high risk, high reward. I think taking risks in life and in my career have helped me accomplish many goals, taught me valuable lessons and opened many doors for opportunity and growth in relationships and experiences. I think taking risks is beneficial to reach new levels. You never know until you try.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a master hair stylist and colorist from NYC. I’ve been in the industry since 2013. I love making people feel as beautiful as they look. My relationships with my clients are important to me. I’m forever grateful. We always have a great time behind the chair while getting glam! I attended Paul Mitchell cosmetology school and after graduating I attended Vidal Sassoon in LA for advanced learning. School was never really my thing growing up, but I realized with a great support team and with a true passion for something you love, you can achieve anything. If you have a goal, keep your eye on the prize and no matter what don’t lose your faith. Life will test you, it won’t ever be easy, but if you are a good person, with good intentions and a heart filled with love, you will always succeed. Growing up I was a reckless teenager, but finding my passion and focusing on my goals led me to open my salon at 21 years old in NY. Now, seven years later I moved to Miami Beach pursuing my career even further. The world is yours!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love this question! Let’s start at Nikki Beach, bikinis and champagne is always a good idea. I would hit Santorini for their happy hour, take a nap, get glam and enjoy dinner at Rusty Pelican, Hasalon, Prime 112. That’s my week day go to’s. During the week I like to sight see, like Calle Ocho, the Design District (Michael’s Genuine is great), Wynwood, Brickell, Midtown, and of course SawGrass for shopping! During the week, I’d probably take salsa & bachata classes at Ball and Chain. Miami is so lively, you’re never bored here. Sundays are for yachts and jet skis and sun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for my parents of course. They’ve supported me my whole life through the good and the bad and have always supported me in every decision. Thank you. I love you. Also, a huge shoutout to my closet friends in NY including my Glaze Hair Studio family. I owe the Paul Mitchell & Vidal Sassoon team a big thank you for giving me great education through the years.
