We had the good fortune of connecting with Rina Kang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I created Say Woof because of my childhood dog. When he was a senior dog, I realized that I had no photos of him and wanted to make sure I could capture memories of him and the time we had together. I had studied photography in school and was freelancing at the time. I ended up taking pictures of my dog and ended up taking more photos of friends’ dogs.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Say Woof is a professional dog portrait studio. We specialize in capturing headshots of loved dogs in our greater communities. Say Woof is an Asian-American, woman-owned, small business. We continue to thrive due to our customers who have become family and friends. Say Woof Saves Lives, this is our message; we are continuously donating parts of our proceeds to help various dogs in need and organizations that focus on similar ideas. We partake in a number of various pop-ups with local dog venues and organizations. We cater to all dog photo needs! I’ve learned through this business that we are successful because our returning customers. I’ve realized how lucky I am to be in the Seattle community where people love their dogs and want to support small businesses like myself.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
