We had the good fortune of connecting with Rinie Marin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rinie, let’s jump right in. What are you most passionate about? Why?
I am extremely passionate about exercise, specifically Spinning and Triathlons. Exercising provides me with physical benefits, but most importantly, it provides me with mental wellness as well.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my professional career in the fitness world a little over 11 years ago, when I decided I would fulfill my future dream of starting my own company ( as the good administrator that I am ). The goal was to engage in what I was good at, all while participating in my love for sports, and ultimately fuse them together to create a fitness enterprise. I made it my objective to be the best Spinning (r )instructor I could possibly be. I learned from the best in the industry and had the privilege of being mentored by incredible people who believed in my potential. I feel that my focus, determination and perseverance drove me to build a name for myself and be recognized in the fitness world. I can humbly say, I achieved the goal of having people want to train and be coached by me; this crazy and passionate Latina woman who had the tools and the drive to encourage anyone to achieve their fitness goals. It took a lot of sacrifice, studying, time, money and dedication to get to this point in my life. And then came the most difficult part. How was I going to use this recognition to create my own fitness company? was it easy? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Be it destiny (or God or any powerful force out there), things started coming together and I was finally able to create, PLUS Fitness Club. A place where I could share with people all that I had learned. A place people could turn to so that they could become the best version of themselves physically and mentally. The path to maintaining this dream was INCREDIBLY HARD, as is any new business in its beginning years. I never faltered or gave up. My drive and determination, as well as the help of many amazing people that came into my life, enabled me to keep this business alive and operating. Few people know that I had to work in other companies and have several jobs, in order to create and maintain my business. I had 13 hours work days and only 6 or less hours of sleep daily, in addition to fitness training for triathlon competitions. This is why I say I’m crazy, LOL.! I have learned a lot throughout these years, But the most important lesson I’ve learned is that every effort and sacrifice done with love and dedication is worthwhile. I’ve learned that people seeing you being driven, consistent, and resilient, serves as an example for them to do better for themselves. If you do things with love and dedication, you will receive love and dedication back from others.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
When my best friend comes to visit me, we will visit our favorite places: Our itinerary will start with having the Jumbo breakfast (Which she loves) at Balans restaurant! ( Breakfast of champions, LOL). I would shortly after take her to see Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, a beautiful place unique to Miami. I would then take her to lunch at CVI.CHE105, our favorite Peruvian restaurant. As a good Latina that she is, she will want to shop! so I would take her to Bayside Marketplace Sizable center. For dinner, I know she would ask me to take her to Bocas &Grill, a Venezuelan restaurant that specializes in the preparation of our native and typical dishes. We would take a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, where I know we will have an amazing time. We would also visit Kennedy Space Center visitor Complex. On our drive back to Miami we would stop at Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine, one of my favorite Cuban restaurants. I would also take her to see Wynwood Walls and the Freedom Tower . We would finish our trip by having dinner at Bulla Restaurant in Coral Gables, as we love Spanish food.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to say that my mother, Tayde Gonzalez, was instrumental in instilling in me a love for sports. She always engaged in sporting activities. Back in the day she was also named the Queen of Sports in her hometown. She would always encourage me to participate in all sporting activities at my school and throughout college. Thanks to her example, love and dedication, I also developed a love for sports and exercising and have had the privilege of being able to practice it all my life. It has proven to be a great advantage for me as it launched me to engage in a professional career in the fitness world. I must also give credit to two incredible sporting organizations which have backed me up with a lot of encouragement, support and recognition throughout my fitness career. Spinning (r) , which has recognized and awarded me the important title of “Spinning Ambassador” for my dedication and perseverance in contributing to the growth and expansion of this amazing sport in Miami and throughout parts of the world. I also owe credit to Multirace(r), one of the most recognized companies in the world of Triathlon sports, for recognizing and naming me ” Multirace Ambassador.” They have allowed me to participate and help promote triathlon events. Most importantly, they have given me the opportunity to train and encourage people to believe in themselves and participate in triathlons, I love to encourage and instill in people the belief that anything in life is possible if you put forth the effort and dedication to your goals and objectives. For many, participating in triathlons has been that achievable goal.
