We had the good fortune of connecting with Roanen Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roanen, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risks are a big part of anyones success without them you never really become uncomfortable enough to grow. Me finally understanding that allowed me to take them even more, whether it be moving out of my parents house not knowing what I’m going to do next. Or simply starting a business where you have little to no support or expierence. But once you start , once you take the risk you realize in the long run why you did and it pays off astronomically.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is my ambition I got into the modeling industry a little over a year ago and haven’t looked back since. From working with GQ and Louis Vuitton in an editorial to sharing scenes with the legend and extremely talented Tiffany Haddish. All came at the speed of light but not at all easy. I spent countless hours submitting headshots and digitals to different agents, agencies, and directors. Countless days networking and just trying to be in the right place at the right time.. However this industry will eat you up and spit you out. Learning to understand every NO was making room for a bigger YES and to not take things personally. Everything that is meant for you can not be taken away. Overall I remained focused and most importantly stayed hungry. From foster kid to Supermodel my life has been nothing short of a movie.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend of mine came into town I would take them to various spots in LA. For one a hike I’m typically super active so whether that be Runyon Canyon or Elysian Park a nice hike is always enjoyable. For food street tacos and other vendors usually hit better than the food you’d get in a restaurant, but I do be smacking down Bossa Nova like no tomorrow. Small pop up shops for designers and similar creatives are also always a good time. And you can never fail with beaches and car meets. So much to do in La it’s just about who you know.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I want to give praise to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ he shines through me and without him I am nothing, and also my mom for taking me in as a little boy. Grew up in foster care and a lot of times that could go a number of ways. From gang violence to drug addiction people with similar stories to me usually end up lost or hopeless. My mom set a good foundation and raised me well I owe her the world for that.
