We had the good fortune of connecting with ROBERTO De ABREU FILHO and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ROBERTO, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
In the Martial Arts world, people think we are in the business of teaching others how to fight and be tough. That’s not wrong, but in reality, we are a community on a journey of self discovery through Martial Arts. Jiu Jitsu is the best tool in the world for self-awareness and to help people grow mentally, physically and spiritually. The path is carved by facing your fears and overcoming doubts, to find your strengths and build confidence in yourself and all that you do. We turn regular human beings into warriors, modern day samurais, creating champions on and off the mats.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our organization is focused on the pillars of faith, discipline, integrity, honor, respect, friendship and family. What sets Fight Sports Club and myself apart from others is the passion for what we do. When I started my Jiu Jitsu journey, my goal was to change people’s lives through the sport, as much as it changed mine. I have to confess, I never thought I would be here where I stand today. I’m a doer, not a planner, carrying my heart on my sleeve. And today we have built a great team, a strong community and an amazing business. It has never been easy, but worth every lesson. I learned that the energy we invest is and will always be the main source of your success. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, never lose the enthusiasm and dedication.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Everything and anything outside! I love the outdoor activities and nature side of Miami, anything on the water like renting a boat, riding a jet ski, going for a paddle board in Oleta, or kite surfing in North Beach. A few times a year we organize sunset Jiu Jitsu training, we bring our mats and roll them out at South Point park, and train in the beautiful Miami weather.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to my team. Accomplishments are just possible because of the people we have around us, and I have an amazing team on my side.
