We had the good fortune of connecting with Rochelle Mouriz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rochelle, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?

During college I worked for a floral horticultural company in NYC learning the pros and cons of the industry first hand. That humbling experience with a prior design education ultimately led to building custom artificial GreenWalls in my backyard for family and friends back home. After countless technical trials and errors, it’s now possible to offer my clients the sublime plant design they first fall in love with, zero maintenance and a clean product. (No styrofoam or toxic adhesives added during assembly.) Looking back at 2018 with a far fetch idea continues to remind me there are no limits in art – even plant art.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Lush Artificial GreenWalls Inc. helps real estate developers build custom artificial greenwalls. Unlike other greenwall companies, our clients have the option to customize their own water-free GreenWall from scratch, hand woven local in Miami and shipped nationwide. We understand budgets, which is why we rid ours of maintenance fees, irrigation, dirt and water a regular living greenwall demands. Is your dream GreenWall indoors or outdoors? We offer both – Luxe indoor or UV commercial grade outdoor to withstand Floridas harsh direct sunlight. Starting my own business wasn’t easy, I quickly learned there was much more to it than playing with plants-like taxes. Yet, transforming a space that once needed a bit of TLC makes it all worth it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Definitely the Design District for a short walk and a quick cappuccino at PuraVida. Bird Bowl for a fun bowling night with the fam. For a real workout, Megalit pilates in midtown. And for a light workout with great company, the parks along the bay in coconut grove never get old. Starting off at Kennedy park and finishing at peacock park near all the shops and restaurants. Here are my top favs: Sapore di Mare serving authentic Italian, Sushi Garage, Bellini on top of Mr.C’s brunch with a view and LoKal with their unexpected alligator bites. But my most frequent stop is Juicense for the best chocolate chia seed pudding.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

It’s a long list but I can easily say my husband, family and friends have been my biggest supporters. Changing career paths a zillion times made me realize I was not one to settle if my heart was not completely in it. The journey to find what I ultimately come to love and enjoy waking up to took time and honesty-with myself. They were there when I had this crazy idea to quit college and work with “flowers” to building a company just for “artificial greenwalls.” Without their love and support to follow my heart (which ever way it turned) I wouldn’t be where I am today.
