We had the good fortune of connecting with ROCKSTEADYY and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ROCKSTEADYY, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process was the fact that I did not go to college and if I wanted to be successful that means I needed a plan. I Knew that I was taking a huge risk in not furthering my education as I only have a high school diploma and did not have another degree to fall back on if this plan didn’t work. I went to college and attempted to stay focused on that goal also but found myself very distracted with the weekend gigs of modeling and djing.I also worked a part time job at a restaurant and eventually went to work at a gym. I was just doing TOO MUCH. the thought process was to have a plan and execute.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an international DJ, model and business owner. I have been a dj for almost 10 years now. I am so blessed to travel the world and honestly get paid to party! I have a fun life! I am a model and have been published a few times, I am also the owner of ROCKKSROSÉ. I am very proud of all that I have accomplished mostly because of how much I have learned. It took a lot of leaps of faith to be where I am as I wasn’t always the most confident. I had to really learn and understand myself to understand what I was becoming. The part of acknowledging and accepting. My journey has not been easy as I am a female in a male dominated industry and that Gets very tricky sometimes. It has had its many ups and down but it’s very rewarding. I overcame my challenges by remaining positive. Focus on my passion and make my passion my paycheck. I really needed to stay confident and humble no matter what.

My biggest lesson was to really understand that our abilities to learn is absolutely endless!!!
knowledge is power! I will never keep myself in a box or be afraid to ask questions or ask for help. When I didn’t, it hurt me more. I had to learn to let go of ego. I don’t have the answers to everything but I CAN LEARN,
I want the world to know that as long as there is life in your body, nothing is impossible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in South Florida is not for the week! Your weekends are just for going out but there is something to do EVERYDAY. I love Latin food some can def head over to little Havana for some authentic cuban. We are so diverse and very Caribbean so we can get Dominican . Haitian or even Jamaican (JIGGA JERK JOINT). There’s something for everyone.
We are big on Brunch so I do enjoy RosaSky! the view on the rooftop and the overall vibe. And there’s always Rise&Toast Sundays that carries on onto the night time, kind of like an extending brunch!
Have to shoutout BlackBird Ordinary as they have ladies night on Tuesdays where I have joined the cast a few times.
I Am also a gym girly so we have to hit up CrossFit Wynwood! and ofcourse if you are not from here you got to check out the Wynwood Walls.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Grandmother was biggest supporter! I honestly could have told her I want to become an astronaut and she’ll ask when do I get started. The sky was never the limit. She always gave me words of encouragement and tell me to ” LIVE MY LIFE”. She enjoyed watching me put on my makeup and styled my hair as she was always intrigued in my lifestyle and waited up when I got back home to hear about how my time went… no matter how late or early in the morning it was….but I always had to make sure I brought home McDonalds French fries for her.

Another person that really impacted my career is a fellow dj by the NAME OSOCITY. He mentored me and basically gave me the blueprint to the industry. He also was very encouraging. He helped me manage my bookings, showed up to every gig he could and also would MC for me when I first started as I was always scared to touch the mic. He also voices my dj drops, so shoutout to OSOCITY.
