We had the good fortune of connecting with Romina Muhametaj and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Romina, what inspires you?
One of the most controversial ideas to me is idealizing a celebrity or someone who we probably have never met or will do. By doing so not only do we give our power away from us but we allow a stranger to inspire us. Now, do not get me wrong, looking at others become successful is very inspiring, but how about ourselves? Look back at your own storyline? Who were you in high school? Who were you when you were 15? How about 5 years ago, who were you? What was your biggest life obstacle you overcame? Often we worship others without giving credit to ourselves. Well my friends, once I start finding inspiration within myself, finding inspiration at my 17 years old version of myself, I start looking at things differently. When I idolized a fortune 500 CEO or a celebrity and they did or said something that I did not agree with, in a way I felt disappointed. So, instead, I took charge of my own matters. I inspire myself! My teenage years inspire me for having the rebel spirit! My trauma inspires me as it shows me no matter how deep in the dark I was I still overcome my depression and anxiety. Choose yourself to inspire you! You might not think that you are an inspiring person but I promise you someone out there admires you for your resilience, courage, and your stubbornness at being great at what you do! The inspiration has to happen within yourself, and once you have reached that inner status, nothing can stop you!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I moved to the US at 17 years old by myself intending to pursue my American Dream and my accomplishments talk about my stubbornness on my goals continuously. After working sales for over 10 years and getting turned down multiple times for a managerial position, I decided to build a brand behind my name via podcasting instead. Two years later, not only I am running a successful business helping my clients and students with sales and negotiation training, but I am where I never thought I would be.

Was it easy? Absolutely not! Is it worth it? Every hustling second! For years I was that teenager that moved to America by herself barely speaking English, working 2-3 jobs to create her dream job, running on 3 -4 hours of sleep, living on caffeine for years in a row. Often we have a vision of where we want to be but with the first thunderstorm coming our way we back up. Instead, be happy and grateful when there is a storm your way. It helps you grow. Think about it, a seed needs water to grow to the tall, strong, and legendary 100-year-old oak tree. Storms are there to help you grow not put you down.

If you change the mindset that life is happening for you and not to you, slowly you will see how your life perspective will change and you feel be unstoppable.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
